NX3000 not able to use WIFI functions

Hello all,

I am able to connect the NX3000 WIFI to my phone, but then the Samsung app does not recognize the camera.

My phone is Huawei Mate 8 running Android Nougat (7.0).

Couldn't find an answer for that, whoever helps me i'll buy him a beer

It can be a bit finicky, you can try connecting to the WiFi ap first, before opening the app, or vice versa. I find that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's annoying!

Thanks,

That's what i usually do, had the same issues with the NX1000, what worked at the end is using the standalone MobileLink (green icon) app, though the only thing i could do is transfer files - no remote viewfinder....does not work for the NX3000 though

One of the reasons i bought the NX3000 is for me to have the remote viewfinder, but I cannot seem to be able to use any of the WIFI function.

I will mention also that the NX3000 is on firmware 1.11, should i downgrade back to 1.00?

Thanks

Re: NX3000 not able to use WIFI functions

You forgot to tell which Samsung app you are using on you phone. Samsung Smart Camera App is the one which supports NX3000 (version 3.5 is the newest), Samsung Camera Manager is for NX1 and NX500 only (it does not support older cameras like NX3000, NX30, NX300). But I'm afraid your problems are related to the Android version 7.0 on your phone, as Samsung Smart Camera App is quite old, built for Android versions 5.1 (Lollipop) and below, and hasn't received updates for a while.

Under Android 5.1 the app is working correctly, is able to connect and manage both my NX3000 and NX30 cameras.

Thanks for the reply,

I basically tried all the available apps from Samsung, including the Smart Camera App and the Samsung Camera Manager.

With both cameras and all apps tested, the only connection i was able to make is between the NX1000 and the stand alone MobileLink app, and managed to send files successfully.

So you think It's the Android's fault and not the camera's firmware?

I feel stupid for not trying the apps prior upgrading the firmware on the camera :\

I have a tendency to immediately update firmware to latest once I receive a gadget.

I would exclude the firmware. My NX3000 has also firmware v. 1.11 and it works fine with the Samsung Smart Camera App under Android 5.1. I remember reading some complaints about the Smart Camera App under Marshmallow and Nougat (some people said that it cannot be used at all under Nougat) but I cannot check it myself as I have no such phones.

Re: NX3000 not able to use WIFI functions

Just want to add that after some testing, I'm not able to connect at all with my NX 1000 or nx 3000 and my phone running android 7. It doesn't look likely that samsung will update the app either.

So annoying,

Just tried connecting my NX3000 to a cheap Android 5.1 tablet, and it works like a charm, but not on my Mate 8

Considering it took them a year to update the other app (for nx1/nx500) to work with Android 7, I'd say we're out of luck! Best keep your other tablet forever!

Samsung finally updated SMART CAMERA app on iOS at August 10. My NX mini starts work again!

I hope they will make update for Android.

Good news!

App has been updated today and is now working with my camera and Android 7 phone, for both photo transfer and remote viewfinder.

Re: NX3000 not able to use WIFI functions

Hi, it works after installing the NX3000 Samsung Smart Camera App. However, the connection to my smart phone lasted not more than 3 mins and then disconnected while transfering photos from the camera to my mobile. Managed to transfer 2 photos out of 6. The camera just hanged or freezes and unable to power off the camera. Only way to resolve the problem is to eject and reinsert the battery. It seems that the Samsung Smart Camera App is unable to pair the camera to both of my mobile. I did install the Samsung Smart Camera App on my Android phones ( Oneplus and Realme XT) and the problem is still the same.
