G7 wifi issues

Om vacation hoping for some quick help. I initiate the connection from the G7, I select the G7's ssid from the app, then after a brief wait I get a dialog on the G7,  "WiFi connection completed, if you  have not launched the app please launch it" my phone gives me a prompt "Searching or waiting the camera to transmit pictures". This is where I'm stuck, if I try to exit either I am not connected. Any ideas? I have tried a lot of settings, including disabling smart wifi connect on my phone.

when you get that message, press cancel, takes you to the next screen where you press WIFI which takes you to  a screen of available connections including your camera, select that and that then takes you to the screen offering remote operation or transfer image.  The latter is also where to go if you want to view the images you have in the camera on your phone/tablet.

Thanks for the reply. That sound like how I got there in the first place, I can cancel, hit wifi in the top of the "home" screen, pick my G7 and wind up back in same situation. However if found that if I goto the remote connection tab (adjacent the home tab) and hit the options then "set con. dest." from there I was able to get to work.

Actually maybe getting to work was a fluke, just tried a few times both ways and no luck, getting same two messages. Any more ideas?

This is if I goto "Set  Connec. Dest.", same message (different graphics) if I use the wifi icon at top left of home tab. It never progresses from this state. Hitting cancel leaves me disconnected
