Calgary Zoo with new Panasonic 100-300
11

Picked up the 100-300 for my hiking kit before we took a trip to Calgary and Banff a few weeks ago.  My normal long lens kit is a Canon 7d and Tamron 150-500 or Canon 400 f/5.6 but I wanted to go lighter for hiking.

I really didn't know what to expect, I've been pleased with my Panasonic G7 and 14-140 and 12-35 as a travel kit and recently upgraded it to a G85.  I also picked up a GX850 as my "carry anywhere" camera with the 12-32 (again pleasantly surprised at how well it does).

Anyway, I got the lens 2 days before we left and these were the 1st set of shots from it.  I was really happy with the photos.  In Banff we didn't see much wildlife so I didn't get to use it as much as I thought I would.

All shot RAW, converted in Lightroom.  Then brought into PS for selective NR (with the Noiseware plugin) and other adjustments.

Your photos with 100-300 are good and reasonably sharp.  I have an older 100-300 and I get good results. Your better results may be due to using the newer 100-300 and/or shooting at 7.1.  I enjoyed your photos.

Well done.  Good shots and  not obviously  made in a zoo.
