Canon EOS 350D - LCD Viewer

I have owned this camera for a number of years but have not used it for a while and recently picked it up to use.

I am unable to view images previously taken as the LCD viewer does not load when pressing the play button (this has worked previously). At first I thought this may be to do with low battery so I fully charged and tried again. The next time I put the battery in after charging this then worked, although ever since it has failed to do so. I have explored different options. E.g. reset to factory settings from the camera menu. The firmware seems to be up to date. The button does not appear damaged and the surrounding buttons all work fine.

I cannot seem to see a setting in the unit that allows me to turn the LCD screen on/off. When taking photos and looking at the pop up image this is also fine. I am also able to delete that image as well if I wished to do so. I yesterday connected my camera to my computer to back up my photos which also worked perfectly. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem?

Many thanks,

Have you gone through the menus?

I've also got a 350D which I no longer use. Isn't there a menu setting for "Preview" or "Image Review"?

Try this:

If you want to continue using this camera, I'd buy a new battery.  The battery ages, even without use, and will no longer deliver enough power even when "fully" charged.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a menu setting for this model.

Re: Canon EOS 350D - LCD Viewer

I thought that could be the case, I will have a look around and try this out. Thanks!

Batteries, plural. In addition to the big rechargeable NB-2LH battery, there's a CR2016 "button" battery, rated for 5 years use (see page 38 of the XT/350D manual). If the CR2016 starts running down, the camera can behave bizarrely.

The CR2016 is in the battery compartment, next to the NB-2LH battery.

Some camera settings, notably date and time, will be lost when you pull out the old CR2016. You'll have to reset them when you put the new battery in.

Ah great, I'll replace that too. Many thanks

Re: Canon EOS 350D - LCD Viewer

Unfortunately I have now replaced both batteries and still the viewer does not work when pressing the button. I have emailed Canon previously who advised to send it off although as i'm considering a new purchase this seems like a long winded way if doing things and prevents me from using the camera.
