Samsung 16mm 2.4 on NX1

Hi, I've been using my NX1 for almost 1 year now and I absolutely love it. I have used it for some commissioned projects, NX1 + 16-50S.

The only issue I have with this setup is that I barely carry it with me for my daily street pictures. The 16-50S is way too big and heavy.

I have looking to get a new body (Fujifulm X70) or getting a pancake lens such as the 16mm 2.4 (the desired 28mm equivalent). The 16mm 2.4 will only be used as street photography lens.

Have any of you used the 16mm on the NX1? Do you recommend me to get a X70 for an 'all-day' camera? My NX1 lifespan would perhaps be longer if I get a second body.

I use the 16mm on my NX1; it's a very good lens. But it's not a 28mm equivalent; it's 24mm. Maybe that's not a big enough difference for you but it is quite a bit wider. The 20mm pancake lens comes closest to the 28mm equivalent (30mm).

My bad,  making mistakes with basic calculating hah.

Do you have any experience regarding the 20mm? it's sad that it's F2.8 instead of the 2.4 of the 16mm.

The lens is almost the same price as a second hand Fuji X70, I'm leaning towards the Fuji now.

I'm a fan of all the NX pancake lenses. The 20 isn't as nice as the 16mm but it's more than adequate. The problem is finding one at a reasonable price these days.

It is a great combo.

For me it is the same; for these purposes I like the pancake lenses - especially on the NXx00 cameras.

Either choice could be a lot of fun for you, I'm guessing. One advantage for the NX combo is that it would be wider when you need that and the 28mp's to work with gives you the opportunity to crop to the 28mm focal length of the 16mp X70 and still have more mp's to play with.

I have had both the 16 and 20 mm pancakes since they first came out. They have been used on 6 different NX cameras from the 14mp NX10 to the 28mp NX1/500. With each increase in mp's and improved sensor as they developed the camera line the 2 lenses have produced better output with each step.

Samsung 16mm pancake is going to be wide for street shooting. Is that what you want? Maybe try the 30mm pancake and see if you like that FOV.

I have used samsung 30mm, and also Pentax-M 28mm f/3.5 which is equivalent to 42mm FOV.

I use the 16mm pancake on my NX500 for street - it's the best match I've found so far. I zone focus and shoot from the chest. I also have the 20 nad 30mm pancakes but find the 16mm easiest to use.
