Upgrade from 450D to 77D or m4/3

I’d aruge the 77d is the best crop camera on the market, that’s counting the 80d and 7d2. Probably more than you need, but as I said, you’ll enjoy it.

And just read that the SL2 support gps tagging of images in camera from phone over Bluetooth. 77D does not support this. What upside down world is this? Do I cancel my 77d, spend 300 USD less to get the GPS feature?? Surely I "deserve" this feature if I spend more. Must be a pure firmware thing... Maybe pros don't need GPS features?

(yes I know you can get a canon GPS, but my phone is a gps)

I believe they are incorrect. The user manual does not state this. Also the Canon iOS app explicitly states that GPS is not supported for the 77D. It does support the dedicated GPS by Canon.

It also explicitly mentions the 6D mark II not supporting it.

Maybe it is too hard to write code that connects to 2 different GPS devices?

Yes, it is. I can fix it like I have done before in post in the Photos app on the Mac. It is not very important - 43 AF pixels vs 9 is probably a better criteria to choose a camera on. The SL2 is just way too much bang for the buck. I will be happy with the 77D, and I have some important events coming up in July so don't want to wait for the SL2 (200D). I will probably have a look at it anyhow when it is out...  I have my doubts that I will like the ergonomics, but who knows.
