NX300 vs NX500 just stills IQ

So far I'm so happy with my NX1 that I'm interested in further buying into the system by adding a compact for my wife.

She would never do video, but would benefit from the array of Nx lenses I've amassed.

Both the 300 and 500 are strong buys respectively, and I'm willing to pay more if it's a true step up. But how do they compare just when considering stills?

NX500 goes 2 and 3 times more. NX300 is a perfectly capable photo camera. My only concern is the mile usage that these cameras have (there are still some new on ebay, but very expensive, and just a few).

nx500 has the best aps-c sensor, is more refined, smaller/lighter, better ergonomics - the second wheel is huge, better AF, well.. you get the point.

still, I consider the nx300 one of the better deals right now. and it is more good looking and probably better made.

There`s always going to be something with IQ that`s a step up from what you have even if it`s subjective , so at some point we have to ask ourselves , which camera at what price point is going to fill my needs and make me happy.

My ultimate choice would be the EOSM 5/6 for certain reasons but  I wouldn`t consider paying  current prices.

I`m thrilled enough with the IQ from my bargain basement $184  NX300 kit.

My money is for much more important needs in life , but then I`m not a professional shooter who needs more from a camera and lens.

Both the NX300 and NX30 are superb instruments

I have to say that with all of the hoopla regarding other brand releases, many of us wind up getting involved on the other forums and using the "other" cameras.  I certainly do.

But whenever I reach for either the NX300 or NX30, the IQ of both cameras are stunning and they will be relevant for quite some time.  Granted, I often state that all of the brands product cameras that can produce some excellent imagery.  The likes of the NX300 and NX500 have such wonderful ergonomics that the camera just rests in your hands - and perhaps are some of the most comfortable cameras to hold on the market.

As for color tonality, I know that when I use the NX300, NX500, and NX30, I revel in the rich colors - in particular for scenics.

So if you can find a good NX300 (or NX30), don't hesitate to pull the trigger.  You only get one shot anymore for most of these cameras and yes, new ones still go for a pretty penny - which shows you the cult value being placed on them.

And in closing, although I'm heavily involved in Micro Four Thirds, the Fuji X system, and to a lesser extent, the Canon EOS M system - it is the now defunct Samsung NX system that still provides IQ levels that stand out of the crowd and I believe will continue to do so for quite a long time to come.
