THE ultrawide to get for a Canon shooter

I bought this lens 1½ years ago to replace the 16-35/2.8 L II that I found to be a good lens but finicky and at times unreliable due to field curvature and other issues. Besides, I love image stabilization. I have never looked back or elsewhere because this lens is all around excellent, sharp from wide open (I could shoot wide open to keep the vignetting, and the sharpness was still excellent - unlike the 2.8 which sometimes, depending on the subject, had abrupt sharpness falloff even at f/5.6 because of field curvature), with extremely precise AF and very useful IS on top.

I believe that this is the lens to get for any Canon shooter interested in this range on whichever format (I've been using it on 1D Mark IV and 650D with great results), unless you need an even more extreme wideangle lens like a 12-24. Sure, it'd be nice for this lens to extend to, say, 45mm on the long end but it's otherwise perfect for the range.

A 5* well earned and a keeper for sure, Canon may keep their 16-35/2.8 III with 4.6 stops of vignetting and a price of $2200 to themselves.
