Pen F at a Civil War Re-enactment
14

I took my Pen F to a Civil War Re-enactment and used it with one of the f1.8 premium primes when walking around the camps. For the battle action I switched to the E-M1 Mkii and the 40-150 F2.8 with the 1.4x TC. What a difference in feeling and handling between these two great cameras.

The photos here was shot using the Mono 2 profile and then WiFi to my smartphone and slightly processed using Snapseed.

The Pen F with the Premium prime lenses is a fun camera to use. If interested in seeing more photos from this event using the Pen F I got them in a Flickr album at:

I still haven't gotten around to processing the raw files from the E-M1 Mkii.  Many thanks for taking the time to look.  Comments are always welcome.

Nice set!  May I ask what were the other tweaks you did on top of Mono-2?  Really like the Sepia and Vignette effects.

Wonderful set of portraits - and great use of the sepia tone to make the photos look more "aged".

One question about the Mono Profile - did you reset it in-camera to provide the Sepia look or did you do that (and the vignetting in some of the shots) afterwords? I ask because the original Mono 2 was much grainier (or using the newer term "noisier") to simulate a Kodak Tri-X film - or at least that is what it looked like from my memory banks.

Many thanks for the kind comments.
I believe when I set Mono 1 I then used the level below the mode dial to get to vignetting and set it to -1. I then went to the SCP and set grain io low and tint to sepua. So there are two places to go to make changes to the profiles. The level and the SCP.

Many thanks for the kind comment. I basically did it all in camera. Only thing I did in Snapseed was to slightly change the brightness. This was because I hadn't figured out how to change the mid-tone in camera yet. I got this figured out now. When in the tone curve the information button changes from shadow/highlight to mid-tone.

There are two places to go to to change the profiles. The level below the mode dial will change the color filter, the tone curve and the vignetting. The SCP will change the grain and tint.

I believe the defaults for Mono 2 are the following:
1. No color filter.
2. Tone curve at highlight +6, shadow -6, mid-tone at 0.
3. Vignetting at 0
4. Grain at High
5. Tint at Neutral.

Anyhow change to you liking. I thought the default grain was too much and I chanel it to Low. I changed Vignetting to -1.

It is really fun playing with this stuff to get the look you want in camera at the time the shot was taken
