I have just bought a Canon Power shot SX620 HS used it to take pictures and now have come to connect the camera via wifi to download pictures and the camera is not able to find my pc nor the pc the camera. The camera is not supplied with a usb connector and the battery is chargeable after removal from camera.

. checked Wifi is enabled on pc and camera

Turned camera on and found modem and logged it into network

does not connect  to pc or enable it to  download pictures.

The PC is a Lenovo idea centre running Windows 10 which it states has already got the drivers required.

please help

Regards

Wendy

Pull the SD card out of the camera and plug it in to the SD slot of the Lenovo. A lot quicker and less painful than messing around with the horrors of WIFI.

I fully agree to it.   I have a new gx9m2.  I have no problem with downloading images via WIFi.  It is rataher slow.  The use of PC media reader (by SD slot)  is easy and quick.  I no longer use wifi for downloading.

Well that simplifies things lol

just thought we would try the right way to see if software works.

Obviously not but would love to get it interacting properly

thanks very much for your reply very appreciated

Sometimes higher tech doesn't mean fast  I remember what must be 40 years ago in the infancy of PC's in a course on PC networking where the lecturer said not to forget the 'sneaker net' where you save the file to a floppy disc walk to the other computer and upload it and it will probably all be there well before before it has trundled through the network.

Hi Wendy, while there is no usb cable supplied the camera will charge with a usb to plug or computer.

Wifi is tricky and a little frustrating.  I downloaded Canon Camera Window for the Mac and it works quite well for uploading photos.  I use an iPhone se and the setup for the canon app, worked after a couple of tries but the app tends to be confusing.  one step at a time and eventually I got it.  The app is great for remote shooting off a tripod.

Yes do this.

Get in the habit of copying files from your sdcard to computer then reformat sdcard as soon as you put it back in the camera.

I'm bought this camera for the same reason, but can't connect to my computer. My laptop has Bluetooth, which would have been a better way to transfer photos to your computer. It works great with my Smartphone.
