should i upgrade to M6?

I own the canon eos m10. in some situations, the auto focus of m10 were terrible and that is problem when i take candid photos. I'm not sure M6 kill this problem and worth to buy it? Anyone own both of them?

Thanks for any suggestions.

If the candids are indoors or in poor light then no, I would not upgrade because you will not notice much difference in those situations.

my candids are always taken outside like street photography and it was not focused on the right thing in sometimes that make my subject blur and sharp at the behind. i regret my photos because i cant take it again. I think m10 have problem about auto focus that is slow and cant track on the subject when they are moving.

How fast are your subjects moving? I have the M2 and the M10 at home, and frequently use the touchscreen to track moving subjects. I tested the M6, and the AF is better, but I don't think you will be mich happier with it, if the M10 fails on you.I bought it for my kids because it's pretty good.

With the right technique, your camera should be doing fine:

M2 using ai servo tracking

I use the M5 in low light at iso 6400 in "candid" situations

Re: should i upgrade to M6?

For most shooting I use the spot meter.

I have less auto focus problems because its after only 1 are as compared to multiple areas.

Have you tried this method, I have a m5 which I love.

I guess you probably mean 1-point AF, where you have a single AF target (in the centre of the screen or EVF, unless you move it)?  The spot meter is an exposure metering method which is available on the EOS M5 and M6 (and many others) which doesn't affect the autofocusing but has a very strong effect on the exposure.  Just clarifying for the OP.  I too have an M5 and find the 1-point AF useful, though its usefulness is unfortunately limited when on its smaller setting (which I would otherwise prefer) as several aspects of functionality are lost at that setting, along with a fair bit of focusing sensitivity.  Luckily, its larger, standard size is still quite nicely small and specific.

Re: should i upgrade to M6?

Actually I have both set to:

1 Point AF

Spot metering

Works for me

I say to wait because next generation of M10 should be available this year and while M6 is an upgrade, may be all you need is something better than M10, hopefully it will come with hot shoe and similar small form factor as it is nice to have compact camera like M/M2/M10.
