Re: EPL6 Shuts off when taking a still photo

After shutter press it blacks out the monitor sounds like the shutter moves makes a grinding noise and then shuts off the power. It will still take and show movies!
I have left the battery out for 24 hours. Charged it then put it back in and it does the same thing.
Did a reset both basic and the higher one.
Never lost the date setting even with the 24 hour batt out.
Oly suggest try a new battery, or shutter may be bad. Don't have a spare battery. Camera was used by someone who did not probably know how to maintain NMH battery.
Tryed all modes, scene, ASMP Iauto. Oly could not tell how to check battery with VOM.
Any thoughts?
Try this.
If you are lucky, it's only a battery that can power the camera except for the extra load of the stabilization system (not the shutter) when you half press the shutter.
Turn off the IBIS. Try the camera again.
If it works, then it's the battery, and get two new generics for about $15 on Ebay.
If it doesn't work, then you have to call Oly back and see what their flat rate charge is to refurbish a PL6.
I just sold an excellent condition PL6 body on Ebay for $200, that I'd paid $190 for not a month before. So you have a $200 camera body, if it works.
A busted PL6 will sell on Ebay, for some amount more than the shipping. A nice looking, but inoperable OMD M10 just sold for $160, which makes little sense to me, but so do a lot of other things.
Cameras wear out. When a PL6 wears out, the best thing to do is upgrade it.
A brand new OMD M10 ii body costs $450, new, direct from Olympus.
A high condition OMD M10 body costs about $250 used.
A brand new PL8 body costs $550.
A high condition PL7 body costs about $300 used
if you'd like an even better camera, then the OMD M1 is $550 refurbished, the OMD M5 II is $650 refurbished, and the Pen F (black) is $700, and the M1 II body only is $2,000.
