I like my new Panasonic 14mm lens
7

I want to thank all the folks on this forum that helped me decide to buy a Panny 14mm f2.5 lens for my wide angle lens. It arrived this morning in the mail, and I think it's the latest version, based on the looks of it. It only cost $125 on Ebay, and I'm quite proud of it.

I think the Panny 14mm lens is a big part, of what MFT should be all about.

You can take a $125 used lens and put it on a $200 used camera body and you can equal a much more expensive and heavy DSLR.

I take all my photos and edit them through Windows 10 photo editor, so if they are too sharp for your tastes, blame my "consumer taste" in sharpening. I'm having a ball doing all this, and buying new lenses is all part of the fun.

I cannot see how Panasonic makes these lenses for as little as they cost, new.  The lens is made in Japan, where labor costs are high, and they have to put a lot of different lens elements together, put on coatings,  and make a little autofocus motor and get every one of them to look good and  work.   We are living in a golden age of photography, and we seldom admit it.

Hi

I like the 14mm also. From a size vs performance point of view its top of the tree. Its also has a nice character, not too clinical. Very underrated in my opinion. I also bought mine secondhand.  In Hong Kong you can find them for US$ 90-95 in good condition if you know where to look.

All the best

Berni

Lookie at the wide angle shots this lens will do, and for only $125.  What other pancake prime, that costs so little, does so much?
