Introducing myself to the EOS Family
6

So, I always wanted to get into photography as a hobby.  Had a few P&S's but never really got into with them, and found myself messing with photoshop more than anything.  I wanted to take awesome photos, not try to make them.  I have a upcoming trip, biggest thing even in my life, to go to Scotland and Ireland and broke down and bought a real camera.  I bought the Canon EOS M10, on sale in Canada and came with the Canon Adapter free for lens.  I'm in Canada, so sometimes options are limited and prices are ^^^^.

Finding EF-M lens too expensive, and not even sure what I wanted to be shooting or what kind of lens I wanted, and have the free EF/EF-S adapter, I went on a a Kijiji binge for used lens.  For the price of one and half EF-M lenses, I acquired from L-R

Canon 24mm EF-S F2,8

Yongnuo EF 35mm F2

Canon EF-M 15-45mm Kit lens

Yongnuo EF 50mm F1.8 (currently my fav)

Canon EF  28-80mm

Sigma 70-300mm DG

I also figured that at some point if I ever go DSLR, I already have 5/6 lens that are compatible with the hundreds of used Rebel bodies online for sale.

Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself.  I'm trying to suck up as much info as possible online and through videos about photography, but also trying to get out and just experiment.  Standing in the same spot and take the same photo with all the above lens.  Then I can see the difference, learn the difference.

Here's a few random shots anyways.

Canon 24mm EF-S F2,8

In my opinion a gem. Lovely little pancake.

Yongnuo EF 35mm F2

A turd in my opinion. Soft outside the center, the old Canon Ef 35mm f2 was a better lens.

Canon EF-M 15-45mm Kit lens

Yongnuo EF 50mm F1.8 (currently my fav)

Another lens I would not want. The old Canon EF 50mm f1.8 and version I are cheap with better optics. The new EF 50mm f1.8 STM is much, much better and still affordable by any means.

Canon EF 28-80mm

Many versions of that lens. Yours looks like the one I have, a soft, contrastless lens.

Sigma 70-300mm DG

Which version?

These photos are very nice.

Re: Introducing myself to the EOS Family

Thanks.  I'm sure I'll buy and sell some lenses and figure out what I like and don't like as time goes.  These were some good deals, so I'll play around and sure the "bug" will get me into owning lots of gear.  lol.
