Keep EM5 or EPM2 as second body?

For the longest time, I've been using an EM5 mki and using an EPM2 as a second body.  I've recently decided to make the ergonomical upgrade to EM10 mkii, so I'm deciding which camera to keep as backup.

EM5:

- weather sealing in case I ever need it

EPM2:

- same battery as EM10 and slim profile

Thoughts?

What's your experience with the IQ and performance these two? Any noticeable differences? If they're about the same, I'd go with the EPM2 for portability.

if you have any weather sealed lenses and shoot ever in the wet..well the EM5. If you want a easy to pocket great image quality unit..the EPM2.
Frankly, you';d be lucky to get $100 for the EPM2, so if you are looking to recoup some cash, sell the EM5. Or just keep both and use as appropriate. The EM10 ii is pretty small as well..so the portability of the EPM2 may not mean as much to you, but again, what ya really gonna get for it?

Re: Keep EM5 or EPM2 as second body?

Do you need a viewfinder? If yes, then E-M5 is the way to go

Do you have a weathersealed lens and like to shoot in wet conditions? If yes, then the E-M5 is the way to go.

Do you just want a spare body that you can throw in your suitcase just in case something happens with the E-M10ii? E-PM2.

I have an E-M1 and an E-PM2, and I unfortunately have decided that I really like having a VF. The E-PM2 with VF2 really isn't a whole lot smaller/more packable than the E-M1, so it ends up staying at home a lot more than I'd like. I thought I'd keep it for random street shooting, but I end up grabbing the E-M1 when I do that.

Now, if you're traveling, the E-PM2 makes sense - it can hold an identical battery (so you have a spare), and doesn't require a different charger. If you're going on potentially once-in-a-lifetime trips and don't want to go more than a day without a camera, keeping the E-PM2  provides cheap/easy insurance against failure and theft.

Of course, if you're hiking up waterfalls and hanging out in windy deserts, the recommendation would be to go with the E-M5 - after checking the seals.

Real plus for the EM-5 is that the controls are closer to the EM-10.  So if you shoot with both at the sane time, it will be easier.

Unless you feel you will really need the weather sealing, I'd keep the EPM2 as the secondary camera.  I sold me EM5 and kept my EPL7 after buying an EM5ii.  There are occasions when the small size of the non-EM body is preferred.  Plus, you EM5 will bring a lot more money than your EPM2.

I liked my EPM2, but replaced it with the EPL7.  And while there are some more features to the EPL7, I really liked the size and simplicity of the EPM2 for a backup camera.

Re: Keep EM5 or EPM2 as second body?

The EM5 mkI was the first m43 body that made me want to build on the system. I held onto it after getting my EM1 mki but eventually sold it thinking I was not getting enough use out of it. I regretted it and had to scour for a long time to find a backup. I managed to grab a used EPM2 from the local camera shop for cheap.

I thought the EPM2 was cheap feeling and cumbersome to use when fiddling with it in Bestbuy years ago. Now as an owner I find it to be slower to use than the EM5 due to wonky dial response and lack of controls. Still, it makes for a compact body with great image quality. I sold off my G5x in favour of this despite the lack of controls. If compactness is your goal than keep the EPM2. I keep mine in my computer bag or in my jacket pocket with the 12-32mm or 20mm
