Continuing this monthly thread (a bit late as I was offline for a few days). Without any new N1 gear on the horizon, let's work with what we have and get the most out of it.

The rules are simple:

  • Add your contribution by responding to this first message in this topic.
  • Change the subject of your message, then embed your image into the reply with whatever you’d like to say about it.
  • If you want criticism/critique (C&C) or technique feedback, say so. It’s generally assumed that you want general feedback, but direct requests make it clearer.

The title of the thread shouldn't discourage you from posting older pictures. Feel free to post anything that you found again in your archives, or that you are currently working on.

Link to previous threads:

Cheers,
Holger

A few holiday snaps from Lanzarote last week
4

These are from our family holiday last week to Lanzarote. All from either the V1 or V2, mostly with 6.7--13mm and 30-110mm.  I bought a V1 to use as a backup body/teleconverter for my D800 18 months ago, and accidentally fell in love with it (sold the D800 after barely touching it for 6 months).  I'm continuously delighted by how much fun I can have with these little lovelies

Thanks for looking, C&C welcome, and sorry for so many pics

A few landscapes (mostly from Teide national park)...

...a few black and whites...

...some wildflowers...

....and the compulsory "LIDL breakfast" shot

Fantastic - would look great on the wall in a black frame with white mount.

A few from recent outings

Stumbled upon a Pileated woodpecker early Sunday morning feeding. It wasn't bothered by my presence and I watched for a good 20 minutes until I could not stand the cold anymore. Unfortunately, the low light limited shutter speeds to no more than 1/60. Is motion blurred bird shots acceptable?

Not a very good photo of a Yellow-rumped warbler. I am learning quickly how difficult it is to photograph little birds. Kudos to Stefan's sBIF project.

This image is from several years ago when I first bought my Nikon 1 V2, I was on a 100mile/11day kayak trip down the east coast of the Baja from Loreto to La Paz. It is a sunset one night.

Remember, it's not the CPU that's in your camera that makes great images, it's the one located about 4" behind the viewfinder that does.

I really enjoy 1 and 2, but the colours on the third seem strange to me, like the white balance is too blue perhaps.

Red-haired bird
3

The main consumers of my bird feed are back! I had feared that those squirrels wre eaten by killer ravens, after witnessing some dire hunting scenes last year. But four of my garden squirrels are alive and healthy - this is the all-red one:

Processed in Capture 1 based on the Fuji Classic Chrome preset

The Grey-and-Red one - note how elegantly this guy is showing me the finger:

Capture 1 default settings - cropped - I'm still considering getting the CX 70~300

Cheers,
Holger
