If only they released the 70-300mm zoom...

A few years back there were rumors of a 70-300 or 100-300mm zoom.  We also saw the 300 f2.8 prime.

The 50-200mm zoom was just "OK", and the 50-150mm a little "short".  For sports and birds and nature, the system deperately needed that 300mm lens.

That is the only thing keeping me from sticking with Samsung only until my NX1 dies.

One of the last Samsung Zombie system users. And still waiting for something to come close.

Samsung never was my one and only system. The lack of some lenses was the reason why. Especially the lack of a long tele zoom was one of the many reasons not to buy a NX1. The 50-150 was also too late, since some months before it was announced, I got myself a new 4/70-200 for my D700 as lighter alternative to the 2.8 or my Tokina 4/100-300. That the 50-150 did cost 500€ more than the Nikon was another reason to stay with the Nikon. Bad timing for Samsung in my case. 6 months earlier, I would have paid the 1500€ for the 50-150, after I got the Nikon: no chance.

Availability of new lenses was also poor. At the time the 12-24 was released, none were available in Germany. Since this was a lens I also really had waited for, I got one as spare part without warranty and hood from our eastern neighbour. They were the only available ones at the time in the whole of Europe.

A 2x extender with passing contacts and high quality glass would be easily feasible by an experienced artisan with a 3d printer. They are cheap, ranging from 150 tp 500$.
