Canon 450d AUTO mode, big problem!

I have a Canon G-serie. A friend of mine has a Canon 450d, she always shoot in AUTO mode. While she shoots she look at the screen to check the composition.

I was explaining Tv mode and Av mode, and changing some parameters in the menu.

I don't know exactly what I did, but now we cannot use AUTO mode anymore!

Putting AUTO mode from Tv (for exemple), on the screen we see some parameters, but mirror is closed. If I put shutter button, to take photos, nothing happens, Mirror keep being closed, I can't see the scene in the screen.

And If I move to Tv or Av or M, I can shoot. But screen shows parameters, not the scene! to see the scene I have to push "SET", and mirror opens and I can see the scene.

1. How can I restore the AUTO mode, so that I can see the scene (Live view?), and being able to shoot in Auto?

2. whan moving to Tv, how can I see immediatly the scene, without needing to push SET in the back to open the mirror?

What have I to change in the menu, to restore previous mode of use?

Make sure the eye cup is seated correctly.  It might have moved a bit and it might have covered or blocked the "display off" sensor.  The sensor is between viewfinder and LCD.

I don't think I touched viewfinder. I changed some parameters on menu, don't know what exactly. and when put on auto mode, cannot shoot anymore, mirror is closed, no liveview. When put back to Tv, screen shows me exif, no live view. To see liveview, have to push SET, and mirror open.

Before it was always in liveview. How can i be always in liveview?

Which Auto mode are you taking about? Live view does not work in the basic zone. It only works in the creative modes.  Does it work in P Mode?  That's the only "Auto" mode it would work in.

In P, Tv, Av, and crative modes, it works. But BEFORE when i chose the mode, i saw the scene on the screen. Now I keep seeing exifs. To see the scene (liveview?), i have to push SET on the back, so mirror open (I hear "clac!), and I finally see the scene. That is annoying, for me and for the owner.

In AUTO mode, (green square on the dial), no way to see the scene, and no way to shoot. If I push shoot button, nothing happens. Auto mode is dead.

How can I restore auto mode?

You are mistaken.  It doesn't work in green mode.  Here is page from the manual:

If I push DIS button, screen became black, no image, nothing. Re-push, and I see again exifs.
