An often overlooked alternative to the 14-150 or 14-140...

...lenses.  We often focus solely on the two commonly known standard superzoom choices within M43 - that is either the Olympus 14-150 or the Panny 14-140 - both of which are nice lenses.

But another option - often completely overlooked - is the Tamron 14-150 f3.5-5.8.  It does not feature IS, so it would work out better with Olympus cameras due to IBIS.

I purchased this lens several years ago and I was not prepared to like it as much as I've done.  It certainly has become a keeper in my collection.

The reason I'm mentioning it here is that there haven't been many reviews (if any) out on this lens.  But here's a current review that sizes up the lens perfectly.  Although I must say that I'm getting better full zoom results than they got in the review.

What I really like about this lens is it's build quality and how it looks on a camera.  I use it either on my older E-M5 or sometimes with the E-P5 with VF4.

In addition, when a firmware update is released, you update it using either Olympus's Digital Camera Updater or Olympus Viewer (just like you would for any other lens).

I also use the Tamron 18-200 f3.5-6.3 IS III (for Canon EOS M cameras).  I have that lens on my Canon EOS M3 and it is one sharp puppy for this genre of lenses.  But with that lens, you have to send it into to Tamron if a firmware update becomes available - bummer.

I use Tamron 14-150 in conbination with DxO and I am really satisfied.  I get good sharp and colurful pictures.

Would be interessting a comparison beetwenn a DxO Tamron 14-150 and the Oly 12-100.

I think there will be no big difference in 40/30 cm big pics.

You're exactly right Ben.  I've had all the other m43 super zooms at one time or another, and ended up keeping the Tamron.  Its build quality is high, optics good, and it's a bit smaller/lighter than the others.  And as you said, it's really a nice looking lens.

Not weather sealed, but I'm sort of "aging out" of that feature.
