Addicted to HDR Tone Mapping with Canon Rebel 300D

Here is a before and after Using the tone mapping feature in Photoshop and Nik plugins!!!! I love the flowers my neighbor has in their front yard. I mainly concentrate on Vegetable Gardening myself... I do have some flowers for the bees but my yard is not 'Landscaped' by no means!!! HEHEHE!!! hope you enjoy the photo, and YES it was shot using my Digital Rebel 300D!!!! now 15 years old and still kicking hard!!!

While HDR has its place, I find most folks that use it, abuse it (unsightly colors, outrageous tone mapping, very unrealistic looks, not to mention the loss of IQ and a gigantic noise increase). Good composition/lighting, shooting RAW, and proper PP will always beat out the HDR crutch.

If you like that effect, I often do, there are alternatives.

You can look up the several ways to create actions to get the "HDR" look.

On1 (free to try) has an HDR filter that is more adjustable than the Nik which you might like.

Topaz, also free to try, has HDR like filters.
