Hi All,

Please suggest a Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon D500.

Any 10-pin wireless shutter release will do the trick.

I've been using the Pixel TW-282 for several years, does both basic release and has a timer etc. so you can do long exposure.

Re: Wireless Remote Shutter Release for D500

I have both the Vello Freewave and Yongnuo trigger system.  Just a couple of things that haven't been mentioned and one caveat. The Vellow system uses nonstandard type batteries and the caveat is that the remote shuts off by itself after non-use but the receiver doesn't. Learned the hard way when I came back to it and it was dead. The Vello is just a remote shutter release.  The Yongnuo is also a flash trigger. It does both. It uses standard batteries. What wasn't mentioned is that when you buy the Yongnuo trigger you get two for about $35 and at Amazon they can be bought in packages with their flash as well.  The only other thing is the long distance performance of the Vellow Freewave can be operated from hundreds of feet away. I haven't heard of the distance performance of the Yongnuo.

I have operated mine at least 100 feet away with line of sight.... not sure of the effective working distance with obstacles......

In such a short time I never expected so my members to offer their suggestion. I am indeed grateful and wish to thank you all.

I have decided to go with RFN-4s Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon as mentioned by lambert4 and ordered one few minutes back.

Cheers,

I also have a TrgiggerTrap shutter release that functions through my smartphone. Though the latter I use for high speed using sound or movement to trigger the release.

Could you kindly provide more information on your TriggerTrap and post any link available on the net to get any additional information.

Thanks.

Cheers,

Triggertrap is out of business.

You might find some stock left in stores but it's going fast.

You did not mention - I use it mostly for Night sky shots like these:

Wow! What a shot. Only 10 seconds though??? I thought you had to do layers to get that kind of shot? This shot I got of Mt Rainier last fall took 30 seconds and it's nothing like yours...

Which means that the app will shortly be obsolete as phone OS versions change.  I'd not spend anything on triggertrap right now, or make it part of my workflow.

Since the Iphone dosn't need to be connected to a network for most functions, you could use an old iphone for years to come. You need 2 anyway to use the remote control function.

Miops is similar product. http://miops.com/ more expensive though. And there's others.

Yeah, I've got a MIOPS unit myself.  But I only use it for some rather rare scenarios.  For everything else, I find that the basic wireless shutter release is all I need.

Admittedly, this is very dependent on just what you're trying to accomplish with your camera.

That shot was from my D800e, its great for night sky, I try to keep my Shutter Speed less than 15 seconds, anything above that you stars begin to elongate (not pin point). I would increase ISO instead...

Cheers,

I have snap bridge on my iPhone and it works fine for the occasional picture I send from camera to phone; but, I tried the remote shutter release from it with focusing on the phone and got terrible results.

B&H Trigger Trap

As some have said the company is OOB but they have opened up all software and made it free so developers can continue to Upgrade or create uses for it.

I use it periodically as a trigger, but have also used cheap 10pin dongles like this for simple shutter release:Amazon link for RFN-4s Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon DSLR

Well, the one I had before that worked with my D750 and D7200 was like 20 bucks.  Nikon must be high asking nearly $100 for some made-in-china, cheap-o remote.

The D750 and D7200 use the same consumer body style, and used a built-in infrared receiver. None of the Pro bodies use infrared. You're not in Kansas anymore
