Portrait lens for Samsung NX APS-C

I have a Samsung Galaxy NX and Samsung 45mm F1.8 lens for portraits. The problem with this lens is that 45mm in an APS-C is a bit restrictive. I would like to find something which offers wider view. One example is Sony E 35mm F1.8 OSS or the Sony A 35mm F1.8 SAM.

  1. Could you recommend an adapter for this scenario?
  2. Any other lenses of other brands I should consider?
  3. Would adapters work well and support all the features of the lenses, like auto-focus?

Thanks!

Sorry, I'm not sure if I understand correctly.  Do you want to use the lens for portraits?  Because if so, the 45mm is probably a bit on the wide side for that, although not a bad solution.

The 30mm is a good recommendation but that focal length isn't ideal for portraits.

1. No, unfortunately. Sony E cameras have a register (lens mount to sensor distance) of 18mm, and Samsung NX cameras are 25.5mm. This means that adapted Sony E lenses would be much too far out and wouldn't focus to infinity, or likely at any useful distance beyond macro.

There are adapters for Sony A lenses, but for manual focusing only. Here's an example (not one of ours, and I haven't tried it ):

2. The only native option would seem to be the Samsung NX 30mm as has already been suggested, and it looks quite good:

3. There are currently no lens adapters for Samsung NX cameras that retain any of the electronic connections between camera and lens. While there are lots of adapters, they all work with manual focusing and diaphragm operation.

Electronic adapters are theoretically possible, and some enterprising individuals have been working on prototypes, such as this one for Canon EF lenses:

...but there's no sign of a commercial product yet.

Hope this helps.

As others have said, if you want autofocus you have to stick with Samsung. If you want full length portraits get the 30. The 45 is excellent for a little tighter shot. For headshots get the 60 or 85. The 85 is also great for full length at wide apertures if you have the working distance.
