80D + Canon 100mm Macro
2

Having tons of fun experimenting today. It's windy, and these are hand-held. I think I am really going to like this combo a great deal! Processed from raw in DPP.

Inside a crocus (I was actually in too close, but I like it).

The crocus entire.

Very nice.  Macro opens a new world of possibilities.  You can sit down on the ground just about anywhere and start looking around and find subjects.  Springtime is the best!

Yes! The 100mm f/2.8 macro is the first lens I bought (along with the kit lens) when I first bought my Rebel XSi. It is still one of my favorite lenses. I also prefer using it on my 80D than my 5D3.

Also you can get an adapter to snap on the end of it to make the magnification even more. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/275182-REG/Raynox_DCR_250_DCR_250_2_5x_Super_Macro.html

Using that thing I've shot a blueberry that fills the whole frame and got some extremely fine details on coins.  It's almost like having the MP-E 65, but without the cost.

Macro can be challenging -- but in broad daylight not too bad. Definitely rewarding!

If it's a *Single* Lens Reflex, why do I need so many lenses?

Nice photos there

I am also just venturing out in the world of macro and shelled out for a Tamron SP 90 mm  f/2.8 (the  non VC model) which I sort of regret  a bit because VC (Tamron's version of IS) would be very useful.

Using a tripod and liveview can get pleasing results though. The 80D is a pleasure to work with.

Which is totally fine, for the record.  It's what I have, and I have almost no interest in "upgrading" to the L, even though I have 6 other L lenses.  The "old" one is sharp, compact, and works great for macro!
