Minolta Z10 in Australia

To complete my web site, I went through my collection of 14k photos I took home from Australia 11 years ago. (Once more.)

700 shots made it to the screensaver on my TV - and the very best 110 pictures got on my website: Australia

Since then, I had several cameras and right now, I am used to 16 and 24 MP APS-C sized sensors. With their capabilities in mind, it was quite obvious that the dynamic range of this ancient 3 MP 2.5" sensor was quite limited. With forgiving lightning, some landscapes even got  a DSLR like contrast and a very modern look, like this one . Sun shining from a clear sky easily showed the limits, though. Just like low light.

I am quite surprised how good these photos look on my 46" TV.

14,000 memories.
700 reasons for my kids to plan a trip to Australia.
110 views of that lucky country I'd like to share with you.

Some very well composed and exposed pictures on that album.  Australia looks beautiful!

Re: Minolta Z10 in Australia

I am hugely impressed by your skills in capturing fantastic images with Z10 which is a 3.2-megapixel CCD camera. While many keep debating about IQ in terms of 24 vs. 42 MP.

These images show that camera is just a tool, a lot depends on the person behind the camera to extract the best from a tool.

Plenty to learn from you.

Re: Minolta Z10 in Australia

Thank you!

I have to admit that these pictures are less than 0.7 % of the photos I took down there (110 of 16,000). So these are the best of the best of the best.

Also, this camera has been a limiting factor sometimes - often  the contrasts in the outback's sunny weather were just too big, or the camera was too slow, taking a picture fractions of a second after the whale submerged again. But in Z10-friendly conditions, it was a good tool.
