I never owned and used this P&S camera.

But this information would be helpful to someone.

A street photographer Gloria Cassens made beautiful and strong photos with this camera.

THANK YOU for posting this.  Really, really interesting.  I love these stories about people making meaningful photos with minimal gear, and you can't get much more minimal than an older, relatively simple powershot compact.

Regards, Rudy

While I agree that this kind of story could be quite interesting, I disagree about using it as a review support. A fortiori when you never used the camera.

Or maybe we all should create a review about every camera because likely someone, somewhere, made good photo from it ?

Not really as to any determination on the "camera's" image quality as images are far too small, but agree that ...

... A street photographer Gloria Cassens made beautiful and strong photos with this camera.

Composition wise yes the photos are good captures, but the actual IQ for most of the images not all that good as one can see HERE.

I had the SX130 and for it's genre (older 1/2.3" CCD sensor) it is a good pocketable (i.e., not "pocket") superzoom camera with PASM modes available for greater creativity.

If one interested in the "camera's" performance/ IQ be far better reading a review; e.g., HERE or HERE. However the SX130 was released 2011, one will be limited to finding used ones via online sellers.

Biggest con about the SX130 (and the other SX1XX's) was the slooow flash recycle time due to using two AA batteries, even with 2450mHa rechargeable AA batteries.

FWIW several of images from the SX130 I had (OOC JPG's, other than resizing for posting no other editing done; EXIF data in images):

Trial of the Fireworks scene mode; handheld.

Cheers,
Jon

Very good IQ for SOOC JPGs.

The only thing that camera was missing was the OVF. The A590is, A650is and A720is all came with OVF.

I'm glad to see videos/images like this. It isn't only about the gear.

DPR should post work like this too.

Can't help noticing that the OP is new to the forums; this is just his/her 4th post, so maybe some straightforward advice like "it's most appreciated and helpful to other DPReview readers when reviews are offered of a camera you have actually used yourself" would be more helpful than sarcasm...

In fact, (s)he is new from 19 months

this is just his/her 4th post

and 27 comments (which is quite few, I agree)

probably, the way I answer is a little harsh.

That said, I don't see the lack of practice on DPr as an excuse or explaination as my remark should apply more broadly : don't speek for someone else, make statement about what you know, try to keep balance (4.5 stars is a pretty bold statement).

Truly inspirational. We always want the newest and the best gear.  Larger sensors, more pixels, faster lenses.  What we should want is more talent, which is clearly what she has. BRAVA!!

A good point in that a lot of people use the large format camera as a means to buy in to giving the appearance of being upmarket photographers with their big kit without necessarily knowing how to use the stuff.

The idea that it is somehow harder and more skilful using kit where you can drift in to high ISO without a care and dynamic range is enormous is absurd really.
