Old Kinoptik Apochromat Lens on M4/3
11

Hey guys I'm new here and just picked up my first M4/3 camera which is an Olympus Pen Lite E-PL6. I have no M4/3 lenses but do have and old C mount Kinoptik Paris Apochromat 25mm f2 lens which I have adapted to the system. For a lens made in the early 1960's it's sharp wide open and even covers the full frame without vignetting unlike most C mount lenses apparently. I'm going to pick up a proper M4/3 lens soon but this little lens is really unique and will be my go to lens for video. This is also my first digital camera in years and it's a bit frustrating to use but I'm still learning. Hope you enjoy some of the few pictures I've taken so far.

Especially like the first with the swirly bokeh. Interesting lens!

Enjoy, and please post more as you experiment further. Could be an interesting portrait lens.

Cheers,

Rick

It'll be great for portraits. I just sent it out today to get a CLA as the focusing ring is very stiff. After that I'll use it a lot more. I will be shooting some portraits this weekend with that camera and some of my old Leica screw mount lenses however. I love that with simple cheap adapters I can use all my old lenses on it.

Really like that contrast and character. Definitely better than an adapted 25mm CCTV lens I use occasionally. Your swirly bokeh looks less messy and actually pleasing. There is also the adapted lens forum here that might be a good place to share your thoughts/results on this and other lenses. You'll get a lot of good input on adapters etc too.

Very interesting look to this this lens. I'm guessing from your ID that you're a Rollei fan... I have my Dad's old Rollei slide projector, which still works well. They made some nice gear back in the day. I have boxes of old slide carousels if anyone wants them...

My Rolleiflex 2.8E is my go to camera and always will be. The Olympus digital is its new sidekick. They make a good team.

Nice! I have a Yashica TLR from my grandfather, although it's not nearly as nice as the Rollei. My brother had a Rollei compact he travelled the world with in the 70s and 80s that took great photos. Sadly he lost the camera and all the photos in a fire...

Some day when I have more time, I would love to shoot film again.

That's really sad. The Yashica TLRs are really nice actually. They give a pleasing glow to the images that goes well certain film stocks. That's actually something I'm trying to replicate on digital. I like that look in black and white.
