Preview software for EOS 300D (DS6041) then taking photos MAC-USB

Hi,

I have a iMac with USB-cable to my EOS 300D, but I don't get any connections? I would like to see the photo, on my iMac, appear in the software, then I have been taken the photo -but I don´t get it to work. Should I change software?

What do I miss?

Thanks!

Magnus

Hi MrAgnwik,

This could be the answer to your problem, check out link below, also getting a CompactFlash Card reader should do the trick.

Thanks Mocha123,

Now the camera appears, great!

But, the Canon software dosen´t work.

Is their any other software out their, that could help me? Then I take the photo, I want i to appear, in the program (on iMac Screen), and then I can keep it or dismiss it.

The camera is to old and don´t work with Lightroom, as have the function I was looking for. End of story.

Thanks!

Hi,

From the Canon Website listings for Canon 300D

Unfortunately your device is no longer supported under the selected operating system. Please feel free to view our current range of available products.

For non-supported cameras, images may still be transferred by inserting your memory card directly into your computer/device or via a memory card reader.

This product is compatible with the following operating systems -

Windows XP (32-bit), Windows XP (64-bit), Windows Me (32-bit), Windows 2000 (32-bit)

Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

______________________________________________________________________________________

If you can now see the connected camera and the pictures on your camera, select all the pictures and drag them into a folder you have created on your Laptop.

From there start up DPP 4 navigate to the folder where you put them on your computer and you will see all the pictures. You can edit, delete and save pictures with this utility.

Also ImageBrowser should do what you want as well.

Good Luck.

Using a card reader, or the built-in SD card reader on the Mac, is the simplest way of transferring photos.  Your pictures will open in either the Image Capture utility, Preview, or iPhoto depending on how the computer is configured.  Not all non-Apple photo apps will read iPhotos directly so, if you just want to view your pictures and/or do some minor editing, the easiest route is to stay with iPhoto.

Hi,

It is possible that DPP4 will not be able to see your 300D photo's because of compatibility issues, I would install DPP3 instead if this is the case.

Re: Preview software for EOS 300D (DS6041) then taking photos MAC-USB

Hi Stan,
I contacted Tether Tools and here is theirs answer:

Thank you for contacting Tether Tools.
Please check with Canon on whether that model 300D is capable of tethering. The information I am seeing is that it is not capable, which is why it's not on our list. I see that that camera was introduced to the market in 2003.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance

The conclusion is that the camera is too old. So, now I have decided to buy a used camera house of Canon 70D, and Lightroom from Adobe.

Many thanks!
Magnus
