700d or 760d? Also which lenses?

Hi,

Is there any major adventage in quality and sharpness 760d over 700d?

im curious which one should i choose? 760d have nice top display and better senzor (big difference?)

Also i like portraits, night and street photos, im looking for sharpest lens with best PQ under 500 dollars.

Now im looking on:

Canon EF 50mm F1.8 STM (from what i know its must) and Canon EF-S 24mm f2.8 STM for different mm lenght.

Any other tips? Nikon? for example 5300?

Thank you so much!

Canon EOS 700D (EOS Rebel T5i / EOS Kiss X7i) Canon EOS Rebel T6s (EOS 760D / EOS 8000D)

Choose the Canon T6s (760D) camera.  There won't be a major difference, but there's enough improvement that is the direction I would recommend.  Check the reviews too for any more details.  You might want to start out with the kit STM lenses if you can buy them for a bundled price.  They are a good value for the money.  For any other lenses, see the Canon SLR Talk forum.

I haven't used a Nikon camera.  They make good products.  But when we see everyone's pictures taken with different brands of the same class, are we really going to see a significant difference?  I don't know; I haven't seen it yet, that is anything that makes me want to buy another brand.

Over four years ago I was using Olympus DSLR cameras.  My Canon DSLR cameras produced similar colors and the JPEGs were pretty good.  I liked my Olympus cameras but they were out-of-date and Canon offered me a better value.

Get Canon 760D (T6s) + 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM.

Use this combo for a few months, with the zoom lens set to various "prime lens" focal lengths such as 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 80mm and 100mm, to explore your shooting preferences in different scenarios.

Later, you can supplement the kit zoom lens with the prime lenses of the focal lengths that you enjoy most often.

I would buy it in kit with Canon 18-135mm + i would buy 50mm f1.8.

That could be enough for longer time imho.

Yeah i know there wont be much difference, jsut asking for more info, you know

From what i see it looks like Canon have more affordable lenses.

Slight correction as Kaso knows you can't get to 24mm equivalent with the 18-135 on the T6s.

I use 24mm equivalent a lot and that is why I bought the T6s body only and bought a used 15-85mm which will give 24mm equivalent focal length at the wide end.

Hi Dave,

I sense that you are a decent person and, in your comment above, you meant well. What I am about to write below is not to argue with you, but is to present a different perspective.

Whereas I was talking about "focal length," you were thinking of "field of view."

The focal length of, say, 24mm remains 24mm. Likewise, the designation 18-135mm always means the range of focal lengths from 18mm through 135mm; the designation 15-85mm means the range of focal lengths from 15mm through 85mm; the designation 24-105mm means the range of focal lengths from 24mm through 105mm... If one turns the ring of an 18-135mm zoom lens (or a 15-85mm zoom lens, or a 24-105mm zoom lens) to the 24mm marking, one is using the focal length of 24mm. Meanwhile, a copy of the Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM lens provides only one focal length: 24mm. In all cases, 24mm is 24mm, irrespective of what camera the lens is used on, e.g. T6s, 80D, 5D Mark III, or 5DSR.

Now, a lens set at 24mm is used on a crop-sensor body, the field of view 'C' is smaller than the field of view 'F' obtained when the lens is used on a full-frame body.

You may find that 'C' is too small for your application at hand, and you prefer 'F' instead. If so, you choose a lens that provides a shorter focal length (i.e. a wider lens).

Cheers.

That's good to clarify that.  The terms I like to use are FL for focal length and EFL for equivalent focal length (field of view).  That's just my personal preference.

Some day I may get a Canon 18-135mm lens.  The Canon 15-85mm lens looks good too.

If you have a couple weeks, consider waiting for the 800D or 77D. These have the same resolution as the 760D, but have a better AF system, and another generational rev on the sensor, giving dual-pixel AF and greater dynamic range.
