Yes, technical quality & colours good but the Video is boring & says little of Venice.

The video is about the carnival, not about Venice. For me it is not boring, I actually rather like the slowness. It is a nice change from all those travel videos stuffed with hectic short shots.

A bit of more wide angle work would have helped to show the context, but anyway: well done.

And the stability is indeed uncanny, especially for a 40-150.

Merijn

Thank you for your comment Merijn.

Happy you nailed the atmosphere of my video.

Even me I would have loved more wider angle, but we don't have to forget that it's full of people and photographers. So not easy to make nice shots especially with the tons of flashes (I had to remove some of them in post). It would have been great as well a little more movements but not easy as they stay pretty static for photos. Anyway I tried my best.

Thanks for the new video link.

On Vimeo I was able to watch on 4K

But on You Tube only HD!

Great Images! But the EM1-2 colours are unreal.

I had no issues with the video except for the long blur at the end, well presented with fantastic colours. Well done.

For the colours I would say it's because of the post production (more "magical" feeling / light). But straight off the camera it's normal.

First off, this was excellent.

Now, the nitpicking. Some (very limited) random focus shifts due to c-af could have been easily avoided with manual focus since it was mostly static shots. Other than that, the image was still a little flat; could have used some contrast and saturation.

Overall though, it was really really good and I enjoyed watching it. Well done.

Thank for your comment.

Yes I know there zre from time to time some small focus shifts, fortunately barrely visible. I've made few manual focus shots and as you said could have been more reliable. But overall, considering the crowd and get the shot quickly, C-AF was easier to use. And considering I shot mostly with the 40-150 even if you move a little bit you can loose the focus.

For the colors and contrast I triew on the post but felt no more natural to my eyes. It's already boost a little compare to the original datas.

I'll keep your advice in mind

Wonderful video! Thanks so much for sharing.

I *think* I recall seeing you there. (I was in costume part of the time.) I didn't shoot video, and my pictures are no match for yours. I will be posting my trip report soon.

Thank you

I was looking at your post, see some pictures of you and I don't think I saw you.

I'll do as well a sort of report into a flickr gallery of all my best shots

Wow, I was moved and mesmerized by your video. Aside from the rich detail and color, and all the technical info being commented on, I am focusing on your story telling. Your excellent choice of music conveyed a building mystery, and the other-wordly beauty of these birdlike humans... a timeless ritual that echoes back to the original time in Venice when the commoners and the elites mingled freely amongst one another without restraint or fear of discovery.

When I see folks like you and John Brawley using these cameras with such artistry, I am inspired.

Care to hold a class on using video on the E-M1.2?

I'll be your first pupil.

warm regards,

Lory

Thank you very much for those kind words !

I'm really happy you like the video.

About your last question, you know I'm just an amateur trying to do its best.

It's just a matter to get nice shots : be patient, take a lot shots and at the end just keep the best. And as for everything it's a lot of work, I spent so many hours to choose the music, compose my shots on top of it and make the post production on every shots...

The isolation of the subjects with the 40-150 from what must have been a hectic environment is masterful, and allows us to appreciate their languorous movements that approaches true slow-motion filming.

Did you shoot some of this in 1080 60p displayed at 30p?

Thank you !

"Hectic environment" is the right word to describe the scene

As you say not easy to isolate the subject, that's why I mostly shot with the 40-150.

I shoot only in 4K at 30fps and for the slow motion I used Twixtor in After Effects. It's really powerfull but you have to take care, it can generates some "ghost" effect. I took care to get the best result but if you really pay attention you can see some weird effects.

Really really good!

I have yet to give the EM1 ii a try for video.  I have the 12-100 lens which might pair nicely for video, especially for the extra stabilization.  Jeff

With the 12-100 will be "supra" stable.

Even without it's already mind-blowing !

Enjoy

Thanks for the explanation, Vincent. Fortunately, I see no ghosts! But are they hidden within the masks?!

Oh, and what is the music? It sounds very much like the recurring theme in the US TV serial program "House of Cards".

It's almost invisible, you see it more around the hands when the move. Because the plugin create more frames with sort of pixels algorithm. And when there are too much difference between two frames it's hard for the plugin to interpret.

For the music it's "safe now" from henry jackman.
