Carnival of Venise 2017 - Video

It might interest the community to see the capabilities of the camera for videos.

I used to shoot with a Canon 650D and I recently moved to Olympus with their new EM1. Of course it's another category of camera but for me the main thing is the IBIS. For videos it works like a charm.

On my video everything is handheld (except the first shot) and from my point of view it's extremely stable considering that I have mostly shot with the 40-150 Pro (I used as well the 12-40 Pro).

For those who might be interested by the settings : I used the "flat" profile, 4k 30fps, C-AF (except few shots in Manual Focus), stabilization mode in M-IS 1 and everything edit with After Effects

Lovely colours, indeed very stable for hand-held.

Added to a list things I should do...make a video of Venice during carnival?.....sure. I wanna be there next year and my EM5 mk1 will do it.

It was not my first time at Venice, but first time for the carnival.
Of course wonderful city, kind of magical & unrealistic.

I advice you to take a "telephoto" lens. Even for photos I used a lot my 40-150.

As it's super crowdy it gives you more opportunities.

And the carnival : great experience ! If you can go during the week.

I'm in Iceland and at least to me, the video is not available.

I *think* I recall seeing you there.  (I was in costume part of the time.)  I didn't shoot video, and my pictures are no match for yours.  I will be posting my trip report soon.

The video is about the carnival, not about Venice. For me it is not boring, I actually rather like the slowness. It is a nice change from all those travel videos stuffed with hectic short shots.

A bit of more wide angle work would have helped to show the context, but anyway: well done.

And the stability is indeed uncanny, especially for a 40-150.

Can't watch it in the UK, either.

First off, this was excellent.

Now, the nitpicking. Some (very limited) random focus shifts due to c-af could have been easily avoided with manual focus since it was mostly static shots. Other than that, the image was still a little flat; could have used some contrast and saturation.

Overall though, it was really really good and I enjoyed watching it. Well done.
