Haoge 23/35 Metal Bayonet Square Lens Hood - Alternative to Fuji vented hood

I don't like filter thread hoods and I've been unhappy with the terrible hoods that come with the 23 and 35. I found an unknown brand called Haoge (They may have been around for a while but it's the first time I've heard of them) who I ordered 2 metal bayonet square hoods for my 23 and 35.

Long and the short, their hoods are damn good, pretty much the same quality as fuji. They're metal bayonet hoods so they are more expensive than the cheap filter thread ones you get, but the construction quality and fit is pretty much perfect, and they are light weight.

I put up a review, but here are some pictures.

I just bought the LH-XF23 for the Fujifilm 23mm f/1.4 and it's made by Fujifilm for $70 https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01FUHN0SQ/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also, your review title says f/2?

These are the f/2 lenses, not the f/1.4

Fuji don't make square hoods for the f/2 versions of the 23 and 35. They only make the vented round hood as far as I know.

Ok, I'm sorry I thought the lenses you pictured were the f/1.4 variants. Didn't have my glasses on 🤓 so disregard my post!

This is exactly what I have been looking for. I love the hood that Fuji uses on the 35mm f1.4, but the 35mm f2 hood is not my favorite. I have been looking for one of these. Thank you for the post!

Nice!  Can you use a polarizing filter with them?

Doesn't look too bad. I just wish they'd ship the bayonet mount 23mm f2 hood with the 35mm f2 as well:

The other alternative which are the vented ones feel a bit silly to use on my XT-1. As I understood it that original style were designed for rangefinder cameras not obstructing the view through the OVF.

I love the look and think they'll work great on either the XE or XT series.  My only problem is how much of the OVF they'll block with the XPro. If anyone has these and shoots with an X-Pro can they let us know if it's an issue.

A friend of mine has the xpro 1 so I can try but it could be a couple of weeks before I catch up with him again

Shouldn't be a problem

MariusM wrote:

I can't see why not. The filter thread is accessible so you can use the normal lens cap rather than one that goes on the hood. With the rectangular hood you could probably use a circular polariser and still be able to adjust it because of the extra space on the sides.

Thanks. Can you validate it's the same company? It's substantially cheaper so it may be a good purchasing channel in future.

The ebay company in the original post ships from China so that's what led me to search on the China platform. The company name I believe is actually Chinese converted into English: Hao 号 Ge 哥. Having said that, Haoge in Chinese means Number Brother, so who knows

I live in China so shipping is cheap, but when you add in shipping and duties, it may end up the same price as what you find on eBay.

Too bad no third party square hood for XF16/1.4?

Anyone found a third party hood for the XF16/1.4 yet?

I haven't, I'm jet to find any flare on an image taken with the 16mm, I don't think it needs one, all I have it's the the pro slim b&w 007 filter for protection and easy cleaning, probably worth the $50 more than the square hood
