Nikon D5

Hello, I have recently purchased a Nikon D5, it whas a great camera except, 2 weeks after I owed it the camera shut down 3 times during a photoshoot. A further 3 weeks past and the camera has leaked water in through the hot shoe mount causing a major short out in the camera. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

So two problems:

1. Shutting down for no reason, more like fading out.

2. Water leaking in through the hot shoe mount.

This is my 10th pro body purchased over the past 18 years and this is a first for me on both accounts. I feel this one is a Lemon and not an inherint problem with the Nikon D5.

If anyone can shed some light on this for me please. :-x:-(

I've been shooting with D5 since July. Haven't experienced any problems. Sounds like you may have gotten a bad one..

Hey Alick,

Sorry to hear about your problems with your D5. I wish I could offer you some help. I would send it in for service. If its still under warranty send it to Nikon, if not, send it to Authorized Photo Service in Chicago. Great service reasonable prices. This is assuming you are in the US. Best of luck.

How have you noticed that the shoe mount has leaked the water and what do you mean with a major short out in the camera? Are these your findings or is the camera already at a repair shop?

Hi Alick,

I got one of the first D5 cameras (pre-ordered) in April. After about one month, ERR.

One month--too late to send it back to Adorama. So I started with Nikon support. After many emails and phone calls--they sent me a new D5. No problems with this one.
