Refurb Lens Reception

Huh? Maybe the box was originally intended for something else.

The inner box. I had to do a search to learn what a VIXIA was (a camcorder, maybe one with a lithium ion battery).

At least there was an encouraging label.

Here's how Canon packaged the lens. Worth referencing if ever send one in for service?

Very nice plastic bag.

The expected sack. Not quite as nice as the 100-400 L II's case but more compact.

Sorry for the cockeyed images, folks.  This seems to happen when I post images taken with my iPhone and then rotated on my computer.

Could have been worse. I recently ordered a 16-35 f4 IS and a 24-70 f4 IS from adorama.

The box was wayyyy to big.

Crushed.

NO PACKING PEANUTS OR BUBBLE WRAP TO PROTECT THE LENSES.

Lens boxes open, warranty cards flung around in box.

Lens boxes damaged..

Never buying from them again.. but at least yours was packaged correctly!

Yeah, the typical refurb box.  I've received a few like that.  However, I don't care about the box, but usually really give the lens a going over and testing.  I've had good luck so far.  Congrats on the 70-300L... it's  like a mini 100-400

I'm so very sorry; we have been experiencing intermittent problems with the packaging machine. It has once again been re-programmed and we believe we have finally fixed the issue.

If it happens again, I would be grateful if you could please email me: Helen@adorama.com with your order number.

Thank you

Packaging machine? I can't imagine anything not in original factory packaging being prepared for shipping other than by hand.

As for happens again, how many customers would give a vendor a second chance after an experience like ƵDoctor's?

It depends on the item - plus the size, shape and weight.  And it's completely standard for retailers to use them! Once programmed correctly, they should actually be more reliable than humans......

And - if a customer were to feel that the packaging had contributed to any level of damage, we would of course accept it back.

Wow, Helen.  I have to say that I'm impressed you are on here. Mistakes happen.  The key will be how often they happen, how quickly they are corrected and how the affected customers are treated.

Thanks!

I'm only an email away: Helen@adorama.com whatever the query or concern; if I don't have all the answers, I can pretty much always find someone who does.....

Neither can I. Automated picking I can see, but not boxing and packaging.

Well foolish me did, all for the sake of a flash that B&H wasn't offering with a purchase of a K3-II. Outside packaging wasn't damaged heavily, but after opening the box, there still was no bubble wrap or peanuts. The camera box had some dents, and the one lens box was yet again crushed and open with the warranty info out of the box.  I'm hesitant to try and see if the contents are fully functional due to the prior handling of the damaged case. The previous rep said to try it, but they deem if it was used, the responsibility would be on us.

Please email me: Helen@adorama.com with your order # plus a picture of the way the unit was packed so I can arrange for you to return it to us.

Re: Refurb Lens Reception

This is very typical of Canon refurb packaging.  I've received three refurbed Canon items packaged similarly.  It looks like they're simply using an overstock of Vixia boxes.  The lithium battery warnings are probably required on any box containing a lithium battery. Their packaging in general might look a little hokey, but I've found it to be quite adequate for the torture the delivery companies often dish out on boxes.

My state of confusion has turned into a circle of confusion.

I am impressed someone from Adorama on the forum.  Wow... I always liked Adorama.  Purchased many telescope parts back in the 90s.  Had some returns back then and always great service.  Happy that has not changed.

Cheers,

Ron
