A portrait of Nila (First time with a Pentax K-3)
7

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all well and having a great day!

I've been trying out the Pentax K-3 for the past couple weeks, and I like the camera. I am a Nikon user, so it was a different experience using a Pentax camera, but I'm glad I liked the way it felt.

Here is one photo of Nila I took during my tryout.

http://www.mf-photography.com/People/i-Cg7tDDV

Taken using Pentax K-3 and 50-135mm f/2.8 lens. It is a great combo, and delivered me sharp results.

I'd appreciate any feedback you can give me, and I hope you enjoy it.

Have a great day!

Hi Manzur

I like the mood of your pictures and you have your own style. Your k3 picture is a pure pentax color. I use both Pentax and Nikon system. Nikon colors are extra cooked leaning to yellowish but pentax is leaning to the green and yellow which I like.

Welcome to a board. Once you get familiar with the Pentax body you will not leave the camp 😃

Welcome Manzur

Your pictures are spectacular, all of them, and very nice lighting and poses too.

You should ask your distributor to let you try the K-1 as well. It's bigger, heavier, not as fast-operating, but the IQ is a level up, so is SR. And (surprisingly) i also love the flippy screen. Looking forward to seeing more pictures from you,

Miles

Thank you very much. I quite like the color too.

Once Pentax gets some really nice lenses, I might just switch permanently

Thank you Miles. I am glad you liked the images and I appreciate your kind comment.

The distributor and me we both actually thought the same. Unfortunately all the K-1s are sold and he is waiting for the next shipment to come in and as soon as it arrives, I'll be trying it out.

I am thinking maybe to try the K-1 with the Pentax 70-200mm f/2.8. As I am not to familiar with the Pentax lenses, is there any specific lens that is really good for portraits? Maybe I can request them to get me one of those too K-1 looks really cool and I cannot wait to bench it against the D810

Aww thank you very much for the kind feedback

K-3 is a great camera, and I was surprised too to see the output K-3 and the 50-135mm can give.

Happy shooting!

I always liked the IQ of that lens.  You might also like the DA* 55 or DA 70 ltd for portrait.

I'd appreciate any feedback you can give me, and I hope you enjoy it.

Excellent image and your obviously an accomplished photographer in your own right.

I too have that combo which I use at weddings and is a match made in heaven.

The 50-135 is an absolutely beautiful piece of optics, although the AF is slow.

I'm not a fan of using the k3 in low light but in reasonable light its great.

Is this a permanent purchase or just a loan?

How do you find the switch in menu's ?

In that case i would recommend you look at the FA77mm f/1.8 This is an old lens but takes really stunning portraits, with very special rendering and transitions. It's an older lens, with screw AF. It focuses slowly and more hesitantly than a modern lens, but it's accurate and very sharp. And tiny.

The FA 43mm f/1.9 can also create nice results, especially flattering wide open, having high resolution but not too high contrast wide open. stopped down it's very sharp.

We should have new lens announcements any day now with CP+ at the end of the month.

With posed portraiture (=subject staying still) in available light you can shoot at crazy low shutter speeds, with prime lenses, thanks to SR.

Possible some have too low contrast?

This one stood out to me: http://www.mf-photography.com/People/i-WvBSfpn/A

I love the eye detail, balanced with the wrist bling and hair. The whole image though is framed wrong? The right hand side is all dead space
