Canon t6

wondering how everyone feels about its sports picture ability. Would be used outside for youth football and soccer. Maybe some indoors, but you get it. I previously had a t5 and it was pretty awesome.

It's perfectly capable of shooting sports. Heck, I've seen people's images that are in my camera group that shoot the T2i, T5, T6, T6i and they come out great. Why? Because they know what they are doing. You could set it on Sports Mode or even Auto and get some excellent keepers. The entry level cameras now days have more than enough tech to get the job done. Figure out what distance you will likely use and choose a lens reach accordingly. Use the kit lens or add a 50mm prime and have at it. Need more length? The popular 55-250mm IS II (latest model) is a great choice and cheap too. Read about settings, watch videos, take a class, join a meetup camera club and practice, practice and it will all come together. Happy shooting.

Re: Canon t6

If it fits your budget, I would recommend the Canon T6i (750D) over the T6 (1300D).  For one reason, it has dust sensor protection.  I find that important.  I had another dust bunny show up on my Canon T3i (600D) camera recently and it went away on its own.  I've had that camera for about 28 months and I don't change lenses often (almost never).  I have two other Canon DSLR cameras with dust sensor protection that also don't show noticeable dust (I don't see any, but I don't go looking for it either).

To answer your question, of course it would take good pictures of sports.  The photographer finds the lenses that work well for him or her and learns how to properly use it.

It depends on the sport too.  For volleyball, my Canon T2i (550D) works well with a kit lens.  This was taken on a cloudy day at the beach, that's why the sky is gray.  We had fog too.  Oh, by the way, at the beach there's plenty of particles of dust that blow around, so that's one reason I don't changes lenses there.  I carry multiple cameras with attached lenses.

Re: Canon t6

I appreciate everyone's input. There isnt much difference between the T6 and T6i that could really change my mind about it. I don't plan on changing lenses unless i absolutely have to. Its just youth football, soccer, you know..the basics for kids. maybe other stuff like videos but yeah. i think ill bump up to a T6 and find lenses that will do more than the standard. i appreciate it!

I'm not certain what the differences are between the T5 and the T6, but if you were happy with the results from the T5, then I'm pretty sure that the T6 will do fine.

Sure a T6i or 80D (or ...) will probably do better, but I understand budget constraints.

You haven't mentioned lenses.  A different lens might make a bigger difference.

Actually every single spec is vastly different.

The sensor, processor, AF system, Touchscreen that swivels, sensor cleaning.

If you want to save money buy a Nikon D3300 or the 100D.

But never ever buy the T6 it's a crippled 7 year old dslr they try to sell as new.

Another reason not to do it. It has no headphone jack and mono mics that suck. So no way to get half decent sound.

It doesn't have on sensor phase detect so it won't Autofocus properly in live view. Unlike the 100D with the STM lens.

but yeah. i think ill bump up to a T6 and find lenses that will do more than the standard. i appreciate it!

That's pretty much the main reason why I got my T6s. I actually prefer a slower rate of 3 FPS, but sometimes will go with 5. With the T6s if you use the "Silent Continuous shooting" mode it will shoot 3 instead of the 5 on the standard continuous shooting mode.

Got to mention I love the touchscreen, the dial, and the bump to 24MP.

Re: Canon t6

In my opinion the in-camera sensor cleaning is a big deal. If you don't want it, then plan on buying a kit to clean the sensor yourself repeatedly (when you get some dust bunnies) or plan to take it to a camera shop (or someone who knows how to do it) where they will do it for you (usually at a cost). I rarely change lenses (almost never). I like the self cleaning that the camera does. It's my understanding that not changing lenses or infrequently changing lenses will reduce the dust, but it won't eliminate it entirely. That's what I have read.

Many years ago once I got some dust bunnies on my old Kodak P&S camera. The lens is fixed with the camera (not interchangeable like a DSLR camera). But dust got in there anyway. I was lucky that weeks later, the dust didn't show up any more because otherwise the camera for me was unusable in that condition.

The newer Rebel cameras will do fine for soccer if that is what you like to photograph. Just make sure you have enough shutter speed to freeze the action. Here's one sample taken under cloudy conditions.
