Olympus E-M1 in Infrared
4

Just got my E-PL6 Super Color conversion from LifePixel.  Looking for some IR Fun.

Took a snap of my E-M1, and I think it looks pretty cool (it was really dark in my office, so the picture is not very sharp).

Powder blue trim; that's an option I could go for.

Fun! Confess I know nothing about digital IR--does one use cut filters or do you just go out with regular lenses and bracket like crazy? Is focus accurate?

Enjoy, looks like a great second life for an older digicam.

Cheers,

Rick

"Super Color" should be around 580nm, so some "visible light" should pass through.
Have you tried swapping the red and blue channels?

No, not on this pic.  It's just that I was surprised at the color shift on some of the parts...thought it looked both cool and cheesey.

Begs the question...what is real?

Well, swapping the channels brings the image into a bit more "believable" (but unusual) result.  I've gotten no success with such objects as metal or rocks, and a lot of sunshine is required for best IR effect.

I'm thinking about having Life pixels convert my Em1,  should make a good IR camera.
