2/5/2017 Weekly landscape show and tell

The gist of the weekly topic is to share, learn and grow with help from like-minded shooters. BUT REMEMBER, you are among fellow photographers interested as much in how you got the shot and made the presentation as they are in the presentation itself. Be sure to provide a unique title.

Please provide the shooting information for each image in the message body where possible (, lens, FL, aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc.).

Cityscapes, abstract landscapes, B&W are all suitable subjects here. Old images are also fine and do not need to be this week's shot nor does the image need to be shot with Canon.
And one other thing. We are here to learn. So please if you post please respond to other's posts as well. What did we do right or how could an image be improved.

Looking forward to seeing this week's posts.

New Found Gap - Great Smokies National Park

This image was taken around 11:00 AM at New Found Gap 1/18/17.  We normally think of wonderful light being in the early morning and late afternoon.  Thus when we arrived at the gap I did not expect to see good conditions for photography.  But the angle of the sun and the atmosphere worked well together that day.
Taken with 5d III and 24-105 lens.  ISO 200, f7.1 1/1000 sec, 73mm.

Along A838 in Scotland

A838 near Gualin Estate

My wife and I were taking a bus tour of the Scottish Higlands and Orkney Islands; we were traveling along the A838 on our way to Ullapool when the driver/guide pulled off the road here. Only two others on the tour had more than P&S or phone with them so photography was not a priority on the tour.

hey aglake,

I know your pain concerning trying to photograph when on a tour of this sort.  But what you have captured is very nice.

beautiful capture, Laci55! the color range and framing is top notch! i am looking at your shot and one thing crosses my mind: what of you climbed down close to the water and took a shot like that and avoided the foreground dirt all together, just curious

To 1Dx for me, Thank You so much for your kind words! Yes, Your idea is perfect but it was in practice not doable at that time... The distance down to the water is huge on a very hard to pass through terrain. I just stopped on my way down to the sea because of the morning light... This magical light lasted just about 15 to 30 minutes... More Iceland pictures from that part of the island can be found on my "Picture base" homesite... www.imaginestudio.smugmug.com
