100d-sl1 and 500d question

Whilst I generally take family and garden shots I also like to do BIF and Action for which I use a 500d with the 55/250 stm lens. Which is OK for me now. 'Had the 400mm and 300L but too heavy nowadays'. I want to get down to one Body by replacing the 500d and another smaller camera I use with the 100d. So my question is. Will the 100d be as fast as my old trusty  500d for my BIF and action? Thanks for any help.

The SL1 will do almost everything even better than the T1i. Better ISO, better IQ, faster. Here is a comparison for you.

The 6d has been my main camera for a few years, while I searched for the "perfect" backup crop camera.

I did use the SL1 for wildlife and was pretty pleased with the performance. But sold it, as I seldom used it.  However, I recently picked up the T6i kit, with the 55-250 STM lens.  Took it out this past weekend to try it out.  Got eagles and birds in flight and was amazed at the results.  I wasn't expecting as much.  I have been the full frame route with the 100-400 L lens, only to find it difficult to handhold and too heavy for this grandma to lug around.

The newer Rebels are amazing.  The T6 series has a more advanced sensor and better AF system.  If you are considering a new camera, you might want to look at this.

Re: 100d-sl1 and 500d question

I use an SL-1 as a 2nd body and when I kayak. I've noticed that even at 4 fps, if I'm shooting RAW & JPEG, the buffer can't handle it. So unless you'll only shoot JPEG for BIF you'll want a bigger buffer than the SL-1 has.

Thanks both for your replies. I have decided to hold fire on a change for the moment and keep with two cameras. This will allow me to possibly treat myself to some glass.
