ELPH 310 HS - As good as the reviews ?

I'm looking to upgrade from my SD1100 IS pocket camera.   The reviews suggest excellent IQ for both images and video which is good because both are important to me.

Is this truly a camera that carries well in a shirt pocket ?

Any likes or dislikes about this camera ?  Owner comments appreciated.   Thanks.

The 310hs was, and still is, the last and ultimate "Elph" camera, IMO. And I owned many of them, going back to the advantix film days. It's really only missing manual controls. The IQ is fantastic for a 1/2.3" sensor, and it still bests a cellphone. The 5x zoom was sane and rational for the body size, and the lens is sharp.

Having said that, mine's been in a box in a closet since the time I bought an iPhone 5s. The 6s Plus is even better. Call it laziness, convenience factor, fun factor, technology marching on... I just don't carry a dedicated "camera" form factor anymore.

The 330hs is probably the latest and best received of those tiny Elphs- around here its practically a cult classic. IQ is good overall, with surprisingly decent low light results and a 10x lens that is sharper than its size and price would indicate. A great option, if you can still find one.

If they're all gone, you may be able to find a nice deal on an older S95/100/110 in the under $200 price range. Slightly larger but still pocketable, and you gain a bigger sensor and lots of additional controls.

I have to agree with rpm40.... the Canon Elph 330 HS is the king among the Elph group.  do a search and you will the glowing comments.  Love mine and keep it in the car all the time for those occasional shots one would miss otherwise.  I do have better AND MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE cameras at home such as the Canon G15 and Panasonic Lumix LX7, but the OP is asking about small pocketable cameras and the Elph 330 HS qualifies.

Thank  you hjlinamen for your comments.   May I ask for opinions on the Elph 330 vs S95 or S100 for the same uses please ?

Would the S95 and S100 be in improvement in IQ and video quality ?
