500d embarrassing question

Had the 500d for quite a while but have decided I would like the date of the image included on the picture. However, after a lot of searching I don't seem to be able to find anything in the manual to say how to include it. Could someone please tell me how to do it, that is of course if it is possible. Thanks for any advise.

I don't think it's an option. That's more of a p&s feature

Re: 500d embarrassing question

Thanks RedFox88.  I think I must have included the date during post processing a couple of years back for some competition purposes. But I could not remember doing it. Worrying isn't it. Regards.

Insert Text During Post Processing
1

Using IrfanView text can be put on the picture which includes the date.  I have version 4.4 on one of my computers. Click edit and then insert the text.  I haven't used that feature previously but I tested it tonight and it works.

Does that help you?  I would expect that other photography programs would be able to do the same.

Here's my sample that I produced tonight.  See the date in the upper left side.  The font and color etc. can be changed.  I thought I would try something; I'm not sure what would look the best as I haven't done it long enough to know for sure.  It's just my test.

Re: Insert Text During Post Processing

Hi Digirame. Thanks for that info, I am going to check out what I already have " or did have" and if I have no success I could well give that a go. The main thing I now know is it is not an "in camera" option. Regards

Well its not on the image but don't forget that the date is tagged in the EXIF metadata so as long as you have the image file you can always find out the date.

You could also rename all your image files appending the EXIF date using freeware tools.

I haven't found any tools which would automatically write the EXIF date to the image as a batch process but it seems like something that might be useful.

Not sure if you're trying to keep track of the date that photos were taken or wanting to include it when printing or posting to social media.
