I recently got a refurb T6i and would like to see the shutter count. I have looked around and it doesn't seem to be readily available,

'anyone know how this is done?

Thank you.

I don't believe there is a way to do it, unfortunately.

Canon has removed the shutter count functionality from the remote control interface in cameras released since 2015 (source via ShutterCount), so as far as I know, there aren't any programs that are able to view it. You can't view it through the camera, and I don't think Magic Lantern is compatible with the T6i.

Yes agreed - the closest you will get is from the file number - as long as it hasn't been reset.

EOS Inspector ?

It's an app for mac.

I have used a Mac app called shuttercount available at the App store. I think it cost about $3. works well. I checked the shutter count on a Rebel T6s that I bought open box, and then later on my current 7D.

in the end the number doesn't matter. You've already bought it. If the shutter breaks , it breaks. It's never fruitful to pay to prematurely replace the shutter especially on Rebel.
Thank you.

^^ Agree with this. Just get out and enjoy the camera. The T6i is a very good model in the Rebel lineup, and more than likely the refurb you bought (especially if direct from Canon), will likely have a very low shutter count (in many cases under 500).

Be sure to show us shots that your are taking with your new toy! :D

I purchased the Dire Studios ShutterCount App when I got my refurbished 70D a few years ago. With the recent update to ShutterCount 3.1 for the Mac, DireStudios added support for a number of previously unsupported Canon cameras, including the T6i.

Note that the newer Canon cameras are only supported in the Mac version of the ShutterCount App and NOT the Windows version of the App.

Here is the link to the support page that lists the supported cameras. Note those marked with * in the "Certified Cameras USB" section indicating support only in the Mac version of the App.

This worked for me just now. Have to turn the wifi off or or it interferes with the USB connection, but quick and easy.

This is what i do on my Rebel T5, I'm not aware of any other way to track it. Not that it really matters in the end though. I think I'm around 12,000 or so right now.
