Disappointed, as much as I tried
1
I had two Tough camera, first it was a TG-1, then I upgraded to TG-4. I have hesitated to write a review but after two disappointing experiences, I decided.
1. TG-1 after about 1 and a half year of using I started to see a shadow in the last left corner of all the photos and films. I took it to a repair shop, it turned out that it was a particle from behind the lens. Unfortunately it appeared that after it was repaired, it got some humidity inside since my first trip to the ocean, it started to show condensation behind the screen and lens. I was always extremely careful with it, but I thought it was just bad luck.
2. After another year or so I decided to upgrade it to a TG-4, hoping for the best. I was in two trips with my new TG-4 at the ocean and did some snorkeling (never scuba), just in low depth waters (max 3-4 m). During my second trip it started to seep water underneath the screen after a few times in the water. Then droplets started for form and condensation appeared inside even in front of the lens.
I am really careful with my cameras and ensure that they are properly closed and locked and washed, etc. yet I don`t know what to do now since I got screwed twice by the camera`s that were supposed to be the best in their class. I talked to a guy who works in camera business and he told me that the materials they use for sticking the screen is actually not appropriate for waterproof, it`s the same material as used for stickers it`s not a marine glue, impermeable to water. Very poor workmanship.
I rated poorly since the both flaws compromised the usage of the camera.
