I am also looking for a good flash.  I would prefer on the NX1 can trigger and also a smaller one I can easily hold in my hand.

I have one of these, and to be honest, I don't like it much.

The build quality isn't of a high standard, and It really isn't robust.

It does the job, but it definitely feels cheap.

I'm looking for something better.

Unfortunately, I talked with the people CyberDL talked, order the flash, only to call me back after a few days and inform that this flash (44 AF-2) is not available, and will never be. I called everyone on Greece having Metz products, and after my phone calls all take out the Metz flash for NX from their catalogues. Obviously they didn't have informed by the parent company.

The usual line was "why to have one, the system is dead", and it is the first time that I realized the issues owned a dead system.

I would really like a 44 AF-2, do you think it is possible that if we ask for some, they will make some?! (like a couple of hundreds or so?!). It is just silly not having a few flash in stock for a system that just last year awarded "most innovative" and had the "best crop lens".

I have a direct line with people in the factory, but I couldn't ask on my own for such a think.

200€/$£ is an ok price for such a good flash (that can not be found elsewhere anyway!), the Canon version is a bit less expensive (around 30€ less?1), so I do not thing is such a big problem. The Samsung is nearing 500€, is it worth such a huge price?

I do not see the NX market to crush anytime soon, it never happened, and it will never will. In the time I could find cheap used flashes, they will be over used already, and I probably use my NX system less and less. New NX stuff will keep their prices for a long long time (that means, for a couple of years at least!).

If the only worth getting flashes in the market are the expensive Samsung ones, I do not see anyone holding a new one, to sell for less. If there is demand (and there should be, as new cameras are still sold, even for 1399$ from Germany) the price can go slightly up, as well, at least for the next year.

I use the Yongnuo 560 MkIII, can be had very cheap!

I trigger it via the on-board camera flash as it has flash trigger built in so that way you can use it off camera for less chance of red-eye. It also works well on the camera and has a built in diffuser.

It is totally manual but you can reduce/increase flash intensity within the gun itself to match your aperture settings.

I just ordered a (new) metz 44-AF-2 for 150 EUR here in Germany, where it is still available (and i assume is also still manufactured).

The "-1" is not available any more, as far as i know.
