The other day, I visited Stockholm's butterfly house to try out my E-M1 II.

Please note that I've never taken photos of butterflies or anything like this before, so they're probably not that great compared to the pros.

One thing I came away with is that the IBIS in this thing is incredible. All of my shots are handheld, and a few of them were taken at shutter speeds as slow as 1/60th of a second, zoomed all the way in at 150mm. AND THEY'RE SHARP!!

I'll embed the images here, but you can also see them (probably in higher resolution) in the 500px gallery I made.

Handheld @ 150mm, 1/60th sec!

Lovely work, iKenndac

Technically, you have exploited your equipment well to do the job; more importantly, artistically you have come up with some fine compositions.

Very nice. They made me smile.

My only suggestion is #1, to reduce some of the space above the leaf. It might look great as more or a horizontal image.

If you want to try something different, shoot butterlies in monochrome. You may be amazed.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you!

I'm not happy with the composition of the first one — it's already cropped way in. I took that with the 12-40mm, and afterwards I switched to the 40-150mm.

Very nice, especially for a first go. What is that crazy thing mimicking a leaf--it's amazing!

Cheers,

Rick
