Thank you for sharing this. I had seen the deal on SD, but thought it was just for the Yi 4K. The Yi M1 has been a curiosity for me since they released it. I've wanted to see more reviews and try one out, but not at the original $499 asking pricing for the US version.
As of today, with current "Cyber Monday" pricing in the US, the pricing is $289.99 + $49.99 for the Yi messenger bag. I snagged the single lens kit version with the bag for $177.80 shipped. At these prices, it's worth checking out (impulse buy!!!)
I'm almost thinking it's an error. We'll see if they actually ship it.
Thanks again.

Damn it seriously?! Guess I shoulda waited for Cyber Monday instead of jumping on it Black Friday. And here I thought paying 260 for just the camera was too little. You sir win the cyber bargain deal of the interwebz this year!
I just got the camera and well.. it's pretty cheap. More like a toy than a serious camera. At first it wouldn't even focus my other lenses but then after a few more power cycles and remounting the lenses everything seemed to work. There is a firmware update that I applied that seemed to make it focus a bit faster. Still it's pretty slow and not precise. The video c-af is very slow and sometimes doesn't respond. This thing really is only a toy but I'm hoping that they'll improve the firmware as time goes by instead of abandoning it. It's not too bad though.. kinda reminds me of my original Oly EP-1 in how the focus behaves.

Thanks for your impressions. After thinking I missed out on a great deal, words like this make me realize that no matter how cheap, my $200-300 is better applied to another lens.

It surprised me as well. I've been watching this camera, and watching for additional reviews. Reviews, such as your comments, were what brought me to DPReview on Monday. Instead of more feedback about the camera, I found this post with the discount code, tried it, it worked, and "presto", I had an impulse buy.
The Yi M1 interests me because it (on paper) seems like a good lateral move, or replacement, for my Samsung NX2000. Both have funky touchscreen interfaces and charge via micro-USB, which is a huge plus when traveling. I never use AF-C (not really a video person as of yet). I do, however, use AF-S and manual focus, so from that perspective this might be OK for my usage scenarios.
I am hoping Yi are as good and as frequent with firmware updates as Samsung was with their NX-series before they left the camera market. Yi released v1.0.17 around November 4th, and they just posted version v1.0.20 yesterday (complete with release notes) , on November 28th. So, if they keep the updates coming and improving I will be happy with this curiosity of a camera. I hope that they at least add RAW+JPG at some point.

Wow another firmware update so fast? Thanks! I'll try it out tonight when I get home. I'm also hoping for RAW + JPG as well as a fix to their AF not sticking with the center focus point on power up. The ability to choose toggle between C-AF and S-AF in video mode would also be nice. Definitely a very rough around the edges camera at the moment but has lots of potential.
How is the performance with the latest firmware update? I couldn't find any release notes on what the firmware update applies to.

I asked Chris M. Williams what version he used for his review, which posted today, and he stated that he used the current (v1.0.20) and inferred that AF-C was still pretty much unusable (even after the update, and noting point #6 in the release notes). Still good to see Yi popping out updates. I hope they get things sorted out on this camera, and if the cyber sales got the camera into the hands of enough photographers, perhaps the flood of fix/improvement requests will speed that process along. I can hope.

I think depends on the lens used. I just updated the firmware on mine and my Panasonic 25 1.4 would auto focus once and then never again same as before the update. Stuck my Oly 45mm 1.8 on and it AF-C acceptably on various subjects and didn't stop after one time AF adjustment on the pany lens. For shooting stills it locked focus a little better than before and seems quicker but could be just my imagination.
