The pleasures of slowly advancing sensor tech
1

I picked up my neglected EPM2 yesterday and set it up to use again. It's kind of nice knowing that sensor performance has not changed so  much since the introduction of the EM5. I actually started thinking about what might really make a difference in image quality, like a different lens.

My K1 is kind of the same. More or less the same sensor performance as all the other 36 mp cameras, and only slightly behind Sony's latest 42 mp uber-sensor.

The only area where this causes serious anxiety, it seems, is at the very top of the market, where somehow the camera companies are supposed to pull off sensor miracles, and where they definitely sometimes overhype the changes through marketing.

Anyway, just a few thoughts after dusting off the EPM2. Perhaps we are entering the "film" era of digital sensors.
