Junior basketball season photos -
1

I took it upon myself to photograph my daughter's first basketball season.  Each team had kids ranging from transitional kindergarten to second grade.  I just used my Olympus EPL6 and a bag of primes.  The lighting in the gym was poor and all of the DSLR/kit lens wielding parents were blown away at the quality of the results.  I haven't checked, but I'd venture to say that my 45mm was used the most.

I had a learning curve before I got into the rhythm of things.  If anyone has tips, or perhaps some different types of shots that aren't represented, I welcome the feedback.

Primes are definitely helpful.  Tough conditions. Gyms are terrible. Nice shots.

FWIW, I ran the data plot plugin and came up with the following: The 45mm was used 36%, the 25mm was used 33%, the 75mm was used 25% and the 14mm was used 5%. Aperture was f1.8 82% of the time, ISO 1250 47% of the time and shutter speed of 1/320 sec 59% of the time.

I find the 45/1.8 is about the minimum FL.  A longer 60mm would be nice but we don't have a 60/1.8 prime

I don't have the 75/1.8.  Your 45/1.8 pics were sharper though.

Here's one from a local 5th grade game:

I haven't compared sharpness across the lenses but the 75mm is a touch slower grabbing focus in low light.  I wonder how much a different body would improve that.

I have a GM1 and it focuses faster than my EM10 and PEN-F.  Most users here who owns both brands can attest to that.  My last outing was with my PEN-F + 45/1.8 and it was struggling with AF in low light too.  I'm seriously looking at a GX85 for that reason.
