Last few Autumnal shots before winter sets in. . .

Sigh. . .  Why can't Fall's beautiful colors last even a few more weeks?  It hardly seems fair, especially in Maine, USA, where we have about a six month winter anyhow!

Full Moon over Shawnee Peak and Moose Pond, Bridgton, Maine

Mountain Road, Western Maine

Unwinding Fall Road, Western Maine

Red Farmhouse just after dawn, Weld, Maine

Weld, Maine Vista II

Well, that's all folks!  I think I may head to Eastern Maine for a photo trip next fall--can't wait!  Hope you've all seen great colors and enjoyed the fall.

I feel your pain. We have 9 months of monsoon like rain and flooding, and 12 months of swamp like humidity, and only maybe 2-3 months of sunlight with no rain, but still a lot of heat. I only use sweaters when I'm sick with high fever.

Beautiful place and beautiful images, BTW.

Re: Last few Autumnal shots before winter sets in. . .

I'd be thankful you had a proper autumn.

It just finally dropped into the 70s here with extremely minimal color change in the leaves.  Instead, I think most of them will just fall this year without giving us the pretty color change.  Been rather warm and dry so far.

Aww, that's so depressing, I'm sorry!  Yes, I am very thankful--it's been a completely proper Autumn here.  Just not long enough when it's so darn beautiful!  Cindy

Panama, Central America. I'm from Venezuela, but moved with my family five years ago, running away from the debacle in my home country. Weather is way more comfortable there. I miss it so much

Excellent images Cindy.  Our color in the central part of the lower peninsula of MI is all but gone but the temps have been in the high 50's to low 60's (F) so I am not complaining.  Normally we have 5 - 6 months worth of winter but that may not be the case this winter.

Yes, I think the Midwest has very similar (and sometimes much more severe) winters to Maine's weather. . .  We've had very nice weather too, like yours.  But finally got a bunch of the rain we desperately needed!  Thanks for looking at my images!  Cindy

Look at the bright(or cloudy side as the case may be) it was 93F here in SoCal yesterday. I really look forward to our 19 hours of winter. I would rather be in Maine.

Re: Last few Autumnal shots before winter sets in. . .

Thank you so much, Chuck!  Once again, I'm feeling a bit better about my short Autumn!  Wow, 93 degrees in November?!  That would be a deal-breaker for me I guess.  But talk to me in the middle of a January or February snowstorm and see what my answer is then, right?    Cindy

Anytime, and you do get the leaves to change color, palm trees always look the same.

bummer for me!

I never really thought of it that way, Chuck!  I always think, "Palm trees are SO exotic!  So pretty!"  But I can imagine they would get a bit old after a while of the same thing. . .  Cindy

Re: Last few Autumnal shots before winter sets in. . .

Hi Cynthia!

A terrific set of pictures from a wornderful scenery. Thanks for the trip.

You PP/final output is very balanced. One question though. Did you push the saturation of the red channel a little bit or the red leaves have this deep red tone. They do not look fake/unrealistic at all, but they are so impressive that I want to ask.

Thanks for sharing!

Re: Last few Autumnal shots before winter sets in. . .

Thank you Spyros!  Believe it or not, NO, I didn't push the red channel at all--in fact, as I recall, I generally had to tone the reds down a bit in PP after my trip.  Western Maine is just phenomenal with its colors.  And yet, I headed there in the spring to see if they had just as beautiful lupine flowers as my area and Downeast and Midcoast Maine have, and they only had the smallest amount of them--what a bummer!  Cindy

Hi! Cynthia,

Really liked your previous thread photos about the ND filters.  Also your photos  in your Challenges section are all great.

Did you use ND filter for this thread, especially in the first photo? (moon shot).

There seems to be a bit of red caste in some of this group.

Lovely images Cindy. The silver lining in your long winter, is that beautiful white snow that covers the landscape. That makes for some wonderful images too.
