Life expectancy of Mirrorless Camera Bodies

My G1 and G2 lost the soft plastic cover around the VF, my GX7 had a major repair after one year of use, the other had some (yet?) isolated problems and might soon be dying after 2.5 years.

So, what average life expectancy do you think a modern M43 camera body has?

My GF1 is still good, although I don't use it any more, so that probably helps.

Re: Life expectancy of Mirrorless Camera Bodies

4 years and counting for my e-m5. it's love, though it has had a rough life in my hands, and with no airtight lens at all (refractor telescope) on 98% of the time. And still kicking.

Pre Mirrorless - E510 - 8 years and still works, E5 - 6 years and still works

E-M1 - 3 years - over 200,000 shutter activations - still works

I think the cameras will work longer than batteries for them are available.

Unfortunately, they will all probably work longer than I will.

E-P3 three years plus, GM5 only 14 months

My E-P3 was retired to the back of my cupboard after three years and 50,000 shots. It still works fine. The mode dial fell off once, but luckily I felt it land on my foot and was able to recover it / glue it back on.

My GM5 started having problems after just 14 months and 10,000 shots. The on-off switch has become very stiff, the rear scrollwheel stopped working and the metal sheath fell off the 12-32 kit lens. Although annoyingly semi-disabled, it is still my main camera two years after purchase.

Time is irrelevant, but actual usage is relevant. If I only use my M4/3 once a year at Christmas for 10 shots, it should last forever.
