Well done my old G11
5

My old G11 had lain on a shelf forgotten, but I took it out on my bike ride today. I'd forgotten what a great little camera it is. I took this panorama with four shots, hand-held, and merged in Photoshop CC. The beauty of the G11 is that it's so portable. There's no way I can carry my 80D when I go out cycling all day.

Your panorama is nicely done.  I've owned several G series Canon's, and the G11 was one of the better ones.  I actually preferred it over the G12, and prefer the S90 (the G11's equivalent in the S series) over the S95 and later S models.  However, my G is a G15 now.  I have a bunch of other cameras; but as I head out the door, the G15 is the one I grab.

The G11 was certainly a solid camera choice. I really liked mine. Of the Canon releases I owned the S90 was my favorite (as another has noted I too prefered it to the S95).

I gave away all my old Canons, each in mint condition to family where they continued to be enjoyed. I tend to be over protective of my gear.

The Sony RX100 one inch sensor series basically allowed me to move on from Canon "point and shoots". Well okay I kept my G1X. The Canons were all good+ and I recall some friendly and helpful people in this forum (Paul Rivers comes to mind).  I have multiple larger cameras and some of them expensive BUT there is nothing like having a small capable camera with you all the time.

Good thread!

Thanks! My G11 will get a few more outings from now on. It would have been interesting to take the same panorama at the same time with my 80D and compare the results. Impossible, of course.

Lovely stitch. G12 owner and still liking it. The beauty is the direct access controls, extra dials and battery life ! Problem with compacts and mirrorless cams these days is the poor batery life.

Not to mention gorgeous Canon colors. Also own the s90 ( adv. faster lens f/2.0 by a tad ) G12 has crop formats which is missing on the s90. The controls and functionality on the G12 beats even my EOS400D. I finally got to like the versatility of the flip out screen.

Great oldie rangefinder classic with good macro close distance capability as well - real jack of all trades. Canon really has got the menu system right from the start compared to Sony. It's just feels like a real photographers compact tool.

The only thing I miss high ISO performance and wider 24mm FL....... maybe EVF, touch sreen, faster response ........ can't have it all I suppose

Re: Well done my old G11

I understand your appreciation for your G11.

As a fellow cyclist myself, my G15 or Elph SD880 ride shotgun in my handlebar bag almost daily.  (Wrapped in a little foam for the vibration.)

Nice Panoramic

Thanks for posting.
